MLive.com's Ansar Kahn reports that forwards Tomas Holmstrom and Henrik Zetterberg are not accompanying the team for the remainder of the club's road trip and have remained in Detroit.
The pair will miss tonight's game in St. Louis, tomorrow's matchup in Colorado and Saturday's game in Phoenix.GM Ken Holland told Kahn that team doctors told him that Zetterberg's back injury just inflammation and is not serious, but the Wings' leading scorer will need to rest.
Holmstrom's deep bone bruise will keep him sidelined for an additional two weeks.
The Red Wings' other injured forward, Kirk Maltby, hopes to resume skating sometime this week and won't tempt a return until mid-January.
