Pavel Datsyuk's second period goal was all Detroit needed Tuesday night as Dominik Hasek stopped all 19 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
The shutout was the second in a row for Hasek -- his shutout streak now stands at 134:13 -- who now has 79 shutouts in his NHL career.
The game also set a record for defenseman Chris Chelios, who became the second-oldest player -- behind only Red Wing legend Gordie Howe -- to play in the NHL. Chelios, who played last night's game at 45 years and 348 days old, passed Moe Roberts.
The Avalanche got a standout performance from netminder Jose Theodore, who stopped 24 of 25 shots. The only goal of the game came late in the second period just after the conclusion of a Colorado penalty. Tomas Holmstrom, who was screening Theodore, blocked a shot by teammate Niklas Kronwall and then shoveled a blind pass to Datsyuk, who was wide open at the side of the crease.
The goal was the 17th on the season for Datsyuk. Datsyuk has two goals among four points and a +6 rating in the last four games.
