The Red Wings have signed goaltender Chris Osgood to a 3-year contract extension that will pay him near an average of $1.5-million per season. An official announcement has been scheduled for later today.

Osgood is currently in the final year of a two-year, $1.7-million contract he signed on August 8th, 2006.

The Peace River, Alberta native is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his NHL career. Osgood boasts a 19-2-1 record and leads the NHL in GAA (1.68) and SV% (.932).

I loved Ozzie every since he came to the DRW. I don't know why they let him go. His stats prove that he played as good in the post season as he did in the regular season. The reason he couldn't win a cup again was because the team's offensive production dropped off. I have worn my #30 jersey with pride through the years, and no people are going to be fighting to get one. I love it.
