The Los Angeles Kings erased a 3-1 deficit in the 3rd period with four-straight goals en route to a shocking 5-3 victory over the Red Wings Thursday night in Detroit. The Red Wings, previously winners of eight-straight games, seemed to be comfortably in the lead heading into the final 20 minutes of play behind a first-period goal from Tomas Kopecky and a pair of scores from Henrik Zetterberg. Kyle Calder had the only goal for Los Angeles up to that point.

The Kings got within one just 39 seconds into the final period when Patrick O'Sullivan scored his 13th of the season. Alexander Frolov tied the game just under five minutes later on a Los Angeles power play.

The Kings scored another power play goal with 6:53 remaining when Brad Stuart -- who could be a potential trade-deadline target for the Red Wings, along with injured teammate Rob Blake -- blasted a shot from the point that beat a screened Chris Osgood. Anze Kopitar sealed the victory just 92 seconds later when his rising backhand shot got past Osgood's glove.

When the onslaught was finished the Kings had scored on four of their first eight shots of the period.

Osgood, who was stellar in his last start in Boston, was shelled for five goals on just 25 shots. Kings counterpart Jason LaBarbera surrendered a trio of what could be considered "soft" goals in the game came out with the victory after stopping 26 of 29 shots.

The loss dropped the Red Wings to 28-3-1 when leading after two periods. The Kings finished 2-for-5 on the power play. The Wings finished 0-for-3.
