The Red Wings blew a third period lead for the second-straight game as Nik Antropov's deflection goal in overtime lifted the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 victory.
The Red Wings grabbed a 2-1 lead on Mikael Samuelsson's goal with 8:42 remaining in reguation only to surrender the lead just 2:17 later when Toronto captain Mats Sundin tied the game with his 23rd of the season.Detroit blew a 3-1 lead heading into the 3rd period to the lowly Los Angeles Kings and lost 5-3 on Friday to end an eight-game winning streak.
Things didn't start off well for the Red Wings in the matinee affair with Darcy Tucker staking the Leafs to 1-0 lead when his cross-ice pass on a power play deflected off the skate of Nicklas Lidstrom and past Dominik Hasek at the 9:00 mark of the opening period.
Lidstrom tied the game in the late stages of the second period off a beautiful deflection of Pavel Datsyuk's pass for his seventh goal of the season and played a large role in Samuelsson's initial tie-breaking tally when his point shot deflected off Samuelsson and past Vesa Toskala in the 3rd period.
Sundin tied the game when his soft shot deflected in off of Dominik Hasek's pad.
The Leafs scored on the only shot in overtime when rookie Aton Strolman's point shot was deflected at the crease by Antropov after defenseman Brian Rafalski failed to tie up the forward's stick.
Toskala improved to 6-1 in his career against the Red Wings and turned aside 32 of 34 shots. Hasek stopped 22 of 25.
Forward Jiri Hudler was a healthy scratch.
