Mlive.com's Ansar Kahn clarified the ongoing speculation of Darren McCarty's future with the organization by going directly to GM Ken Holland. Holland stated the team will call up McCarty from Grand Rapids on March 10th (following a 14-day conditioning stint), which would put him in line to potentially make his debut with the club the following day against the Chicago Blackhawks in Joe Louis Arena.
Kahn adds that the deadline for putting players on waivers was February 26th, the day before the NHL trade deadline.
McCarty has five goals and nine points in 12 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. He has also added 21 penalty minutes.
