According to Saturday's Toronto Sun, the Red Wings' front office has become so enamored with the play of defenseman Brad Stuart that the club is intent on re-signing him before he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
Stuart, who has been a strong physical presence for the Red Wings since the club acquired him just before the NHL trade deadline last month is currently sidelined with a broken finger (the team hopes he can return for the start of the playoffs).
Stuart had a goal and an assist along with a +2 rating in nine games with the team prior to suffering the injury on Wednesday night.
