Forward Dan Cleary, who has been sidelined since February 9th due to a fractured jaw, has received medical clearance to return to the lineup when the Red Wings faceoff against the Blues in St. Louis tomorrow night.
The Wings will be without goaltender Dominik Hasek, however, as the netminder is fighting a case of the flu. Top prospect netminder Jimmy Howard will be recalled from Grand Rapids to back up Chris Osgood.
Cleary had surgery this morning to remove the wires from his jaw. The versatile forward, who had missed 19 games, had 20 goals among 40 points in 57 games prior to the injury.
MLive.com's Ansar Kahn notes that Tomas Holmstrom suffered a setback and isn't likely to return this week. Valtteri Filppula, who left the ice before practice started, is also doubtful to return this week. Darren McCarty (ribs) could, however, make his return for Friday's home game against the Blues.
