The Macomb Daily's Bruce MacLeod reports in his Red Wings Corner blog this afternoon that Dominik Hasek will sit out tonight's game against the St. Louis Blues as he continues to recover from a severe case of the flu. Hasek did take the ice for the morning skate but left the ice early. Jimmy Howard, who has practiced with the team in preparation for Hasek missing another game, will back up Chris Osgood tonight.
Mikael Samuelsson, who is suffering from tightness in his groin, will sit out tonight, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press. Tests conducted on Sameulsson yesterday revealed no damage and he's considered day-to-day with the injury.
Dallas Drake, who has missed the last two games with a bruised sternum, will return to the lineup tonight. He'll be honored prior to the game by the Red Wings and the NHL for playing in his 1,000th NHL game earlier this season.
Valtteri Filppula (knee) also returns to the lineup after being given the "green light" to return to game action yesterday.
