Dominik Hasek himself has confirmed what many already thought: Chris Osgood will be the Red Wings' starting netminder for Friday's critical Game 5 in Joe Louis Arena. Hasek struggled before being pulled in the second period of Wednesday's 3-2 loss that tied the series 2-2. Hasek stopped just 11 of 14 shots. Osgood turned aside all 13 shots he faced.
Head coach Mike Babcock, though not yet commenting officially on the goaltending switch, told Hasek to keep his head up.
"You got to give Dom credit, we're up 2-0 because he played great in Game 2," Babcock told MLive.com. "The puck didn't hit him in Nashville (Games 3 and 4). Ozzie has been very, very good for us. I just told Dom to get on the ice, get some work done, get your game back. We plan on having a long run."
