The list of Red Wings players on the NHL Awards list grew again today as the NHL announced the finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, the award handed out to the NHL's best defensive-forward. Both Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg were named as finalists for the award, with New Jersey's John Madden filling out the third spot.
Both Datsyuk and Zetterberg had incredible seasons at both ends of the ice: Datsyuk led the NHL in +/- with a +41 and had an incredible 144 takeaways -- 58 more than his closest rival. Zetterberg led all Red Wings forwards in average ice time, finished a +30 and took the most faceoffs of any Red Wings while finishing just behind Kris Draper in faceoff winning percentage.
It is the first Selke nomination for both players. Datsyuk has also been nominated for the Lady Byng trophy for the third consecutive year and defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom is the runaway favorite for the Norris Trophy.
