Bruce MacLeod reports that Henrik Zetterberg will miss tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild due to back spasms. The injury is not deemed serious.
"I'm not too worried," Zetterberg told MacLeod. "There's been a lot of games played. I feel a little bad today. Hopefully, I get three days off, I'll feel a little better after Christmas. Of course I want to play tonight, but if you think, be a little smart, you get a few days off and hopefully it won't get worse."
Zetterberg also admitted that his back -- which forced him to miss the final 19 games of the regular season last year and left him limited during the Red Wings' playoff run -- has given him stretches of mostly good days rather than bad days.
The Red Wings' leading scorer will be re-evaluated following the Christmas break prior to next Wednesday's game in St. Louis.
The prognosis on forward Tomas Holmstrom, who was injured in the first period of Thursday's 3-2 loss the Blues, is good: No ligament damage is present, but Holmstrom does have a bruised bone just above his right knee. Holmstrom is back in Detroit and his status for next Wednesday's game is also up in the air.
Mark Hartigan has been called up to take Zetterberg's spot in the lineup tonight against the Wild.
