Wants out of Pitts. Should we take him on for a year? He'd come cheap - 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Great move Fredo

I hope you’re right. I hope he does also. Obviously. I can see both sides of it, but I agree Cat is a bigger part of his life than we realize. I was listening to the newest winged wheel podcast and they were saying the same thing, how it’s a thing to see Kane & DeBricats young children together and how POTENTIALLY, potentially this translates into this is Patrick Kanes home now and he will hopefully stay for many of these reasons. Again that’s all wishful thinking at the end of the day. People keep saying how Kane may not stay because we still won’t be in a cup window. But at 4 years I think we will certainly be trying. We must make the playoffs next year. We have to, look at what this team has done. To start this season the entire world was betting against them. Even at the end of last season Buffalo and Ottawa were the favourites to be the new comers knocking on the door. Then after free agency in the summer The Yzerplan was lambasted by many for the first time. This season starts and we’re the underdogs from the get go but came in hot, even became so exciting to watch they quickly were people’s favourite team to tune into because they kept having these crazy comebacks. Then we sign Kane and everyone was pretty reserved with how he’d play. I thought he’d be hurt in no time, but the dude played. He’s so dynamic and confident with the puck, one of those rare elite players that visibly commands respect when the pucks on his stick. Even at 35 years old. That moment of his in Chicago was so electric….This year going in this team I would think should be favourites to get in. I can’t for the life of me see how losing Kane, Ghost & Sprong gets this done. Put Berggren in because obviously Sprong is walking. But my gosh the other two are hard to replace. With either one do we have as much magic? Because when this team came together and played as best as they could they were very much a magical hockey team to watch.

I like the way this guy moves in the offensive zone. Wonder if he can play defense.
-
You'd have to move at least three guys and Chiarot and Petry aren't going anywhere

https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/c/chiarbe01.html Guy sucks. Colin must have bought a jersey when YzerSCAM signed him, so sorry about that. But this guy is 5 times as bad as Filip Zadina and should be getting whipped like a motherf v cker around here. Colin has a pretty good track record of not fanboying into COMPLETE TRASH players and giving them rope (Smith, Kindl, Mantha, Zadina), so my frustration with this issue is compounded by his getting his panties all wet over Ben. He's a good troll, but I think he honestly believes Chiarot is a good defender. It's baffling.
-
So we'll let Kane's PPG go, Ghost's 60 points go, replace them with rookies and then keep a defender that can't defend and makes too many mistakes.

Only if there is someone there that Yzerman REALLY prefers to what's available at 15. It won't be to get the extra pick. We still need to collect future stars.

I get a feeling Scott does not like Ben...Not with Ken...Not with a Hen...Ken and Hen may get along, but not with Ben.

Chiarot plays more minutes than every D man not named Seider. Takes more Dzone starts than every defender on the team, including Seider. Is #2, behind Seider, in both hits and blocked shots. Has a better +/- than Seider, despite scoring far less. And he runs the 2nd PK unit, with Petry and Ed swapping as his partner. He's easily the #2 Dman on this team, and he has two more seasons under contract. He's not going anywhere with that usage by his coach. If Ghost was actually a better defender than Chia he'd be getting those minutes. But Newsy only uses Ghost 15 min a night at even strength, which equates to the deployment of a #6 Dman. Ghost put up sexy numbers, but over half his points come from the PP, because that's the only time Newsy is comfortable deploying him. When there's no risk of him getting scored on. And when Newsy does play him at even strength, he only gets deployed in the offensive zone or neutral zone. And, despite all that sheltering, he has the worst +/- on the team, at -16. In theory a guy like this should be Uber positive on the +/-. It's impossible to justify paying 5 million a year to a 3rd pair PP specialist that doesn't hit, doesn't block shots, and is on the ice for more goals against than any other defender on the team. oh yeah, and Yzerman specifically said he wants the team to improve at defending as a group, and stop "trying to score our way out of problems". And that to you means burning our top defensive Dman not named Seider, who has 2 years left on his contract, in order to resign a PP specialist who literally isn't trusted to defend at all?
-
10/10 spins we stayed at 15... As usual I don't follow prospects - any chance Yzerman trades away #15 to an old pal GM Verbeek for Anaheim's late 1st and early 2nd? https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/ducks

So smarten up and start yelling about Derek on every thread you want to derail with the same topic.

spinning the tankathon wheel, and we either stay at 15 or end up at 5. #5 happened about 4 out of 15 tries. They have us taking Eiserman. Bold prediction 1, this will happen. easy prediction, Utah NHL Club will win the 1st overall.

You can if you dump others. Petry, Holl, Maatta, Chiarot. Any of these guys are expendable.
-
You can't bring back ghost if you want to fit Edvinsson and Johansson on to this team next season
-
Plus, he says "recalls Johansson" at some point. Johansson isn't going to clear waivers if he's sent down from the start. Re-sign Ghost. How do you not? Unless the guy wants 6 or 7 million.
-
$1.5M next season
-
I didn't mention Chiarot once
-
I actually think we need to trade Seider, Walman, Edvinsson, Maatta, and THEN buy out Holl AND Petry. Chiarot's Agent - Chiarot Chiarot by himself Chiarot-Chiarot's Agent 1st PP - Chiarot by himself. 2nd PP - Chiarot and Chiarot's agent with goalie pulled 1st PK - Chiarot in net by himself. 2nd PK - Chiarot's agent in net and Chiarot
-
I love how you continue to ignore the GLARING BLATANT OBVIOUS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES IF YOU WATCH THE GAMES PROBLEM - BEN F V C K ING CHIAROT. Let's get rid of a guy that played the last 30 games as an even player with Maatta and actually IS the 2nd best puck mover on defense that we have. While I would play Edvinsson over Gost in OT every single time because I think Edvinsson is equally adept on offense and a much better defender, the fact remains that our coaching staff put Gost out there each time after or before Seider. Why? Because that's the one thing he's good at - moving the puck. Holl = +8, best corsi for out of all our defensemen. Passed the eyeball test when paired with Maataa. Zero reason to get rid of Holl until Tuomisto and/or ASP are ready to step in. Petry we're 100% in agreement on. He has to go. What you're doing with Chiarot, though, is the equivalent of blaming Rasmussen, Perron, Veleno, and Berggren while skipping over Filip Zadina. It's that bad.
