Cleary okay after surgery on left knee

Cleary OK after surgery on left knee Dan Cleary's disappointing season can be explained by two small reasons. Cleary underwent surgery Tuesday to repair two tears to his left meniscus. "It was bothering me all year," Cleary said. "I basically couldn't walk the last seven months. I had to brace myself against a wall just to get upstairs, but then when I'd hit the ice, it would be OK, so that's why we didn't do the surgery until now." Cleary, who also had a groin injury and a separated shoulder during the season, had just 34 points in 64 games. "Now I can't wait to start training again," he said. "This is going to be my hardest summer of training, and I'm going to come back stronger than ever next season." Helene St. James

Yzerman Likely to Target Wings Players

Perhaps you could learn to spell his name correctly.

    KHL hopes to add Kovalchuk

Even if Crosby was in the KHL, we'd still constantly hear about him every NBC game.

I'm guessing that Yzerman will heavily target former or current Wings players, to try and draw them to Tampa. We see this all the time in sports, when a new coach or GM tries to bring in players that they're familiar with and have played with before. I don't think any star players will follow him there, but I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Maltby or Draper end up finishing their careers in Tampa now. Maybe Lilja if the Wings don't bring him back. Hey, when is Fedorov's contract up in Russia? Anyway, I expect to see an increase in former Wings players on Tampa's roster.

Cleary has always been one of the best play-off players for us since he came here. Basically, only Hank and Lids were better during the past few seasons. Sometimes I wished we would have 12 Clearies on our roster. I knew something was wrong with him.

Cleary okay after surgery on left knee

Man, that's brutal. And he was playing through a severely-torn grain during the playoffs last season. This guy is a beast. The words "Cleary" and "lazy" are antonyms. They just don't go together.

Yzerman Likely to Target Wings Players

In his conference discussing his being fired he'll look to the cameras and say "Wing for life baby" and walk out.

    Final Draft Rankings

I love how people complain about the Wings drafting/scouting/Free Agent process when this is the most successful org in any sport in the last 20 + years. How is it again that we as Wings fans get labeled spoiled all the time?

Who would have thought earlier this season the Red Wings and their fans would be watching Kopecky and Leino play each other in the SCF?

    History Will be Made

I hate it when people talk like they know the game like NHL players by talking about their own credentials. Give me a break.

Sadly ironic that you ask people their roster opinions, and then crap all over the opinions when posted.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Yeah, Erat really screwed that one up. I was pretty angry. Anyhow---Hossa has 11 points and is tied for first on his team in +/-. He's not doing too badly.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Hossa isn't playing anywhere as good as he was in 07-08, but he isn't playing bad by any stretch. Chicago's not getting their money out of him putting him on a line with his admirer, but neither were the Wing's with all the stars who were on the 3rd and 4th line of years past. Depth improves teams but decreases numbers. Don't believe me? Ask Danny Heatly Exactly. No one is going to Luc Robitallie's house and demanding that he give his 02 ring back (granted he didn't real play bad, just had very limited ice time). .

It's Official: Happy Hudler is Back

As a proud blooded American, I +ed it. I have never heard of a Finnish Prima Donna, and there are few cases of one-dimensional, egocentric, or lazy Fins, with the exception of pumpkin head. I know many people think I am critical of Filppula, but one thing I can never take away from him is the fact that he hustles balls out almost every shift. Speaking as an American player who played at a relatively high level, the sense of entitlement is almost everywhere, (myself included) and I find it hard to believe that a Finnish player with one shot to make the big bucks and leave over seas will treat it as many of my peers and myself did (granted, I have no clue how the mindset of Finland's Junior system works, but I'm just imagining that as a whole, their culture is more humble).

If Wings faced Hawks in 3rd Round

People need to realize that the Hawks are a lot better then many give them credit on here, and arguably played better than their roster looked on paper, something that was missing for a lot of this year for the Wings. I know it hurts to admit it, but the difference in levels of intensity is just unreal this year (though there are a myriad of excuses for the Wings, many of which hold valid), and the Hawks really put it all into winning it this year, at the expense of a lot of their future depth. As for the series, I really think we had the capability to beat them, and vice versa. In my mind we were a bit less talented and slower version of them, but had a lot more experience and more of an "x-factor" feel, so I think beating them would have certainly not be a huge upset by any means. I really think a lot of people don't give the Hawk's depth and Defense enough credit, so I would not have been surprised if we lost. With that being said, I really think the Phoenix series wore us out, and as much as I'm tempted to blame the horrible officiating in the SJ series, the facts are the Wing's were either just too tired or didn't play up to their potential to win a 7 game series vs the Sharks. If the same effort was shown towards the Hawks that was shown in the vast majority of the San Jose series we would be out in 5-6 games, all of them being close games but with the same feeling of "We're just as good, they're just playing better" that was seen in game 5 of SJ. Oh hell yeah, say what you want about the dives some thing SJ through, but one thing that cannot be denied is that they took one of the simplest aspects in the game and enforced it to a ridiculous, and in my mind unfair, extent.

    KHL hopes to add Kovalchuk

in what sense is it classless? What is the difference when one nhl teams offers more money than another nhl team? In the case when its KHL over NHL its all of a sudden classles... this is so stupid...

    KHL hopes to add Kovalchuk

Not only that, but he'll be offered that kind of money in his native country, near all of his friends and family. I won't lose a bit of respect for him if he decides to take an offer for big money in the KHL.
