What harold meant was "Zetterberg not having two or three Selke wins is pretty ridiculous given the fact that his primary use is as a shutdown center against the opposing team's top line, and he executes that role better than any other player in the league" -

Clarke MacArthur

Plus they have like $27m in cap space. Although, it does make me curious about their decision to decline to sign MacArthur. -

Ladd would likely get $3m from an arbitrator when compared to MacArthur's. He'd probably be worth it to them. It'd be stupid to trade for them and not sign them though. -
1 pointI thought that said Tiger Woods and then saw the number 3966 and then thought, "No way I'm sure Wilt Chamberlain has that number beat."

Byfuglien is contracted through 2010/2011 as is Todd White. These guys are still without contracts, but I'm sure Little, Ladd, Eager and Bergfors are more likely to be regulars for Atlanta than Cormier. They're all RFA's. I would imagine their re-signing would be somewhat of a formality. -

I also find it funny that the Devils had a press conference announcing the contract...and then they got smacked down by the league. That's just embarrassing. -

NHL Rejects Kovalchuk's Contract
Z Winged Dangler reacted to stevkrause for a post in a topic
Zetterberg and Franzen's contracts take them up to age 40 (look at Lidstrom, Yzerman, Chelios, Hasek, etc...) The Wings have a history of utilizing older players later in their careers than most teams, so these deals are not at ALL out of the realm of possibility of being completed... Hossa's deal is sketchy, as it takes him to 42/43 and he has had a few injuries with the way he plays - much less likely to get completed, but also only a 12 year deal... not 17 Pronger's deal - after 35, so if they want to sign him to 100 years, let them - it's on the cap regardless and it's their own choice if they want to eat future cap after he retires... This deal there wasn't even a grey area, it was flat out designed to circumvent the cap and there is NO way he will complete this contract, or at bare minimum (if you REALLY want to stretch) complete this contract at the value it is for. Keep things in perspective... -
1 pointJust because the talent pool is bigger doesn't mean we should be putting a hockey team in a desert! I suppose if the NHL made wiser re-location decisions in the past I might be ok with a 30 team league, but frankly every team has 4 or 5 players that are temporary plugs at best. From a players perspective it's great because they keep the dream alive, but from a fans perspective it's like...WTF are some of these guys doing here?

Sergei Federov
Jesusberg reacted to dragonballgtz for a post in a topic
I think the biggest things were the lockout just really fooked with his skills also being traded away from the Ducks must of messed with him mentally as well. He went from being "the man" to being a mentor/another piece of the puzzle. Not what he wanted. Then his body started to give up on him with all those random injuries he would get. Bad groin, ankle, back and the killer a concussion in his 2nd to last year. Could he of been better maybe it's easier to play with better teammates around you. My question is would he of meshed better with Babs with the Wings instead of Anaheim? Another one is how the Red Wings roster would of looked with 2 large contracts after the lockout? Technically 33. I know it does not matter but just getting the facts straight sorry. -

I will agree in a way with that. I still think Ozzie did his part. Hell he might of had 3 SC for being a starter if it wasnt for him getting injured in 98-99 playoffs. Bill Ranford :flamingmad: -

I hope he improves his 5 hole. Also, he and Babcock need to work out their differences, because it wound up becoming detrimental to us in the long run. -

I can't see him as a front office person. It just doesn't fit. He needs to be on the bench screaming at refs when they make bad calls. And coaching or something. -
