    Mario Lemieux- Order Of Canada

Obvious troll is still a troll

I thought the reason he wanted to leave the Wings wasn't just the paycheck but maybe a chance to get more minutes?

The NHL fan base is growing...

I guess I never really thought about the stereotypes of women and hockey. My mom was the one to formally introduced me to the sport, and since then I've been surrounded by both men and women who genuinely love the game. There are certainly plenty of hockey-moms, puck bunnies, and supportive girlfriends/spouses, but I'm comfortable saying there are definitely more women out there who care about the sport that they're watching, and not so much the players that are in it.

    silly jersey retiring debate

those 2 are more deserving than alot of the names being thrown around. but the fact of the matter is 3/4 fans dont even know who they are. imo we should just leave numbers from that long ago alone. why would we ritire them now if they werent retired in all the years since their careers ended.

Bring him up as a black ace and let him skate once more with the Cup, even if he doesn't get his name on it again. Then let him and Drapes ride off into the sunset together, with the love and good wishes of many a Red Wings fan. If this comes true, I'm a happy camper.

"Sweden, Switzerland or Russia. But I haven't even begun to start [thinking that way]." KHL here he comes.... Maybe he should get Realja? Yeah, that was bad.

Lilja: Red Wings only team to offer contract

If he wasn't so greedy he could have been a wing by now, what was he thinking? He had a very severe concussion and head ache and he expects any team's to offer him 1.5M? Get Real Lilja.

    Cheechoo Placed on Waivers

Trust me. We don't want this guy. Been placed on waivers twice, and makes 3.5 MILnext season. Just because we pick him up on waivers doesnt mean that he will be signed at league minimum. Went from 93 points to 70, then 37, 29, and finally 14. Honestly, there is really no potential here for him to get 56 goals and 93 points again.

His contract is two years. Three Million is the total amount his contract is worth not his yearly rate/cap hit.

Over the past few weeks i have read countless articles suggesting the wings should retire a few numbers. To me having your number retired by a franchise such as the detroit red wings should be reserved for the best of the best. How do you know for sure if a number should be retired? When there is no debate about it, if u need to debate about whether the player should have their number retired, then they shouldnt, the feeling should be unanimous. not to say the players being suggested arnt great players, but they arnt to be put in the same catagory as howe, yzerman, and the rest of the retired numbers. to me there is only one person at this point in time that deserves to have their number retired, Lidstrom. And he will have his number retired without a doubt, and no one is going to argue about whether he should have his number retired or not because everyone know he should and he is one of the all time red wing greats. IF THERE IS ANY DEBATE THEIR NUMBER SHOULDNT BE RETIRED THEN IT SHOULDNT, otherwise it makes it less special. PS if ur thinking about debating whether lidstrom should have his number retired....... just shut the f*** up

Be careful what you say about LIlja and a Pain Train reference...I got about -6 for insinuating that the nickname was laughable. I also went on to explain how i feel Lilja is overrated on the Wings but not in the NHL, as evidence by his no contract offer. Im assuming its because he's a "hitter" (not my words)....the only thing he hit was the ice when he tried to kill a penalty. My thoughts: Pain Train is derived from him getting his ass beat so bad in a fight, that he had a concussion/head aches for over a year, and thus he was always in pain, that felt like a freight train. Pain Train.......or was the train actually what the last blow to his head felt like. Either one im sure.

Lemieux was 5x the player as Yzerman ever was.

Yeah that might be hyperbole. Maybe 4 times better. That sounds pretty good.
