People are saying Ozzie needs more games to get in the groove out there, maybe the entire team needs to play more? Going a week at a time without playing can't be helping any of them.

He needs to be able to play regularly. He cannot be expected to perform well if he's only given a chance to play once or twice a month. Last season was terrible for him and if Babcock chooses to go that route again, we all better be praying that Jimmy stays healthy because Osgood can only do so good if not given the chance to play in some games on a regular basis.

Until the Wings lose a game with them in net, then the box score fans will be out in force to declare one needs a certain save % per game in order to be a goalie in the NHL. Oz could have played the breakaway a little better.. that was the only fault I saw. Nothing one could do about picking the corners as he was in position and can't take up 100% of the net, even at such an angle. I've never known Ozzie to be a good shootout tender, so wasn't surprising he didn't save that first breakaway, but he did save another breakaway afterwards. The main thing to ask is why the hell the defense keeps letting forwards behind them so far up ice. Ozzie is a convenient target for knee jerk reactions so I have little respect for the opinion of anyone who makes such early declarations that he needs to go. At best, they aren't very smart, at worst, they're crappy trolls.

Stop making excuses!!! Jimmy stops breakaways on a regular basis. Goalies need to come up with at least a couple big stops in a game. So far none for Ozzie. He's done. Get rid of him. 4 goals on 9 shots in Dallas, and now 3 goals on 12 tonight...

Look at how many games Osgood has played in the last year, of course his numbers aren't going to be that great. And he did say in the after game interview that he should have had it, but he needed to get the rust off. I think he needs some regular games so get going. I understand that Howard is #1 goalie now, but you can't expect him to play in 99% of the games and perform well. They need to have a good back up goalie and Osgood can be that if given a proper chance.

Except Marty has never had a season under .900. Osgood has been under it for over a year. Nobody is saying they shouldnt get some of the blame. But when you get beat from inside the blueline with a wrist shot and beat from an unscreened shot from the bottom of the circle thats just as much his fault.

Osgood and Howard are not the only players that prevent goals. The entire team lost this game, NOT just Ozzie.

Kronwall needs to finish those. He must hate Datsyuk when he makes fancy passes or something.

you do realize someone can watch the games and still think osgood hasn't been playing well? quit stereotyping people. i have saw that little comment several times and its lame. i actually love how there are all these posters that spend all day complaining about how bad other fans are for saying negative things. if you dont like whats being posted in a thread, stop reading it. despite what many of you think, its ok to think that players aren't doing well. if i think the 3rd line stinks right now, or that osgood is really falling apart, or kindl might not be so great, well thats my opinion. it doesn't mean i am a box score fan, it doesn't mean i am a bad fan; it just means i have an objective opinion about part of the wings roster.

regardless of circumstances, the goalie has the task of "stopping the puck." who gives a s*** how it went in. just because someone else doesn't do their job in front doesn't mean the goalie is exempt from "stopping the puck." gotta give the boys out front a chance. anytime the puck goes in the net it is somewhat the fault of the goalie. people make it seem that there might as well not be a goalie when the puck takes a deflection or there is a screen on the shot.

Letting in 2 goals w/ 28 shots is not "pretty damn good". It's ok. Letting in 4 goals w/ 9 shots is laughable. Let me explain further why I've come to this position. Osgood's done a lot for this team. Even looked pretty good in the 2008-09 post-season. However, I don't believe he has shown the ability to continue to compete at the NHL since then. He has consistently given poor performances. His last shutout was last November. Since someone decided to bring these other first string goaltenders (to compare to Osgood) into the discussion, lets look at numbers from last year. Miller: 2.22 GAA .929 SV% Brodeur: 2.24 GAA .916 SV% Luongo: 2.57 GAA .913 SV% MAF : 2.65 GAA .905 SV% Osgood: 3.02 GAA .888 SV% I had hoped he would come out with a few very strong beginning games. It would have greatly helped my opinion of his ability. He could have been correct in his statements of it just being a bad year. However, he hasn't come out with strong games. He's been mediocre at best. At this point I no longer have any trust in his ability in goal. I cringe at almost any shot on goal. I would much rather see someone else as our secondary. Especially when one considers that it's Jimmy's second year, and we might have to rely on our backup should Jimmy stumble.

Ozzie played a good game for the last 2 periods. A shame he couldn't bring bigger saves in the 1st. Then again, when your team lets up 11 SOG in the first 10 minutes you're in for a depressing night as a goalie, from what I understand.

Nobody was within ten feet of Yandle when he shot that goal. NOBODY.
