    Morons at large

No worries there. They'd likely have to go through the Packers to get there and if that's the case....not gonna happen! While trying to prove he's a man, poor Omar forgot to leave his Coach purse at home.

Well, I got you even... Luongo seems to fall apart when the pressure is on... this is why a team simply cannot drop that kinda money on a goalie, if he wasn't so high priced, they could have gone to Schneider and maybe would have won... I personally think Schneider is ready for a starting gig...

haha yea.... saw the stuff about the riots, remembered this thread from a while back, had to bump it, and someone gave me a minus for it... oh and lol @luongo, he should play for the sharks, would choke with the rest of them.

Speaking for myself: I don't have a grudge against the Canucks. I was rooting for them up until Thomas started putting on a clinic and Luongo fell apart on the road. At that point I felt like it could be Thomas' last shot at a Cup. With the way he was playing at 37 years old it felt like this was his his year. The Canucks have a really bright future ahead of them, though. They need to get Luongo a full-time sports psychologist, though. Getting to the finals and falling short was something the Wings had to go through in the 90's (when they were swept by the Devils) before the dynastic group of Wings players put it all together.

    Filppula & The Selke

Very true. Z plays against better forwards every game. He's a better back-checker, has stronger defensive sense and positioning. I would argue Z is even a better penalty killer even though he doesn't get the chance to keep his minutes down. Again, I'm not knocking Filppula as he has very strong defensive skills. But as others have said in the thread, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are in a class of their own as two of the best defensive forwards in the league. Filppula isn't at that level, nor do I see him getting there.

Question: Why do Wings fans hate the Canucks?

I just assumed the Green Men had no junk. How else do you get in a green spandex suit? I bet the Sedins know.

Question: Why do Wings fans hate the Canucks?

    Way to go Lebrongo!

I don't hate the Canucks, but I am really glad they lost because so many of the players whom I liked were acting without class in that series. Canucks still remain in the top half of teams I like in the league. Boston just happened to be the team in the East I liked second most this year, and one of my all time favourite teams.

1994 SCF loss = Vancouver riots. 2011 SCF loss = Vancouver riots. They seem to have the second part down cold; time to work on the first part.

If last nights shameful acts weren't enough reason to answer this question, I don't know what is... best and most appropriate resurrection of a thread ever by the way!

Constant complaining from Gillis/Vigneault is what really stuck out to me this year...I was almost going to go for the Canucks after the Wings' elimination, but then Gillis or Vig (Forget who it was) started bitching about the amount of powerplays/penalties in the Chicago series after they lost a couple of games. Didn't see him say a word in the first 3 games...

s*** of fire? Don't they make some type of medication or topical cream to alleviate that? On a serious note, I think it really comes down to the sense of entitlement without having won anything that gets on most other fans' nerves. Or it might just be because Bobby Lou is such an asshat and we're sick of hearing the "Loooooooooou" chants after every routine save.

And only a spoiled little f*** on a message board would send off players who have actually contributed to cup wins by this franchise (and been kind and gracious human beings all the while) in such a manner. Time for them to move on? Yea, probably. Time for you to gtfo? Be my guest.

Helm, Eaves, Miller are all upgrades over Draper. And they are the returning guys he would be competing against for playing time. Mursak is definitely going to be on the roster, and offers a lot of what Draper brings; my ideal lineup puts Mursak on the left side replacing Draper with Helm and Eaves. Emmerton would be the likely loss if Draper returns, and he's a 23 year-old C/LW with second-line potential. He showed good offensive instincts and skill in a brief call-up last season and is defensively capable. There's no need for Draper. He's a fan favorite, but he is simply another checking forward when we already have better checking forwards. It's not quite as dramatic as Maltby a couple years back when he simply couldn't keep up with the rest of the checking forwards, but Draper just isn't needed anymore. It's harsh to put it that way, I guess. But it's like leaving your Mom's house. You don't need her to take care of you anymore. Maybe you'll ask her for advice now and then, but you don't need her to make you every meal, drive you to hockey practice, and remind you when you have a doctor's appointment.

Red Wings Name New Assistant Coaches

I think blueadams should be an assistant coach and I also think Eva should be one. Think about it. Lots of useless line combos matching up against our opponents. Plus Jiri Hudler getting 40 minutes of ice time en route to achieving his 80 points.

    Changes in the offseason

Tim Connolly? Hudler vs. Zherdev? At some point are we going to talk about anybody who A) Actually meets the "top six" qualification that Babcock mentioned. B) Doesn't require that we speculate for days on end whether their extremely marginal professional success is worth the peanuts you apparently want to pay for a free agent.

    Changes in the offseason

Obviously not. Zherdev would out produce Hudler in that situation.
