    3/14 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Ducks 4

Freaking staggers me that Nyquist, who showed so much effort, was sent back to GR while Emmerton does absolutely stuff all out there EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He's not quick, he's not physical, he doesn't have much skill, he's freaking invisible out there. Nyquist made some mistakes and was pushed aside too often, but man he played with some heart and he at least TRIED to make things happen. It's a joke that we have so many guys floating and not even putting in an effort and the one guy that did got demoted. Way to send a strong message Babcock.

******* brutal ... Nyquist deserves to be playing up here every bit as much as Smith. Cleary is just spare parts out there - shouldnt even be playing.

I am pretty sure they stopped caring what Babcock thought 3 years ago.

Because it wasn't the Red Wings.

This teams doesn't need a call out...it needs to get healthy. Everything else will fall into place once that happens.

As a matter of fact, remember when there were Blackhawks fans out the ying yang the last couple years seeking the same validation when their team was doing well? Wonder where they ran off to.

I realize that many people on this forum weren't born yet when the Red Wings were a bad team. There's a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of one's team, especially when it is improvement over the recent past. After a number of good years, one tends to take it in stride and expect that the prior results will continue, whereas teams with a history of falling short will show their excitement over small achievements. And so, in many ways, the Wings fans of today are like adults who are so busy striving for the Big Prize that we fail to stop and appreciate the lesser accomplishments that we achieve on our way to the Big Prize. And the Blues fans are like children who still announce to the entire household, "I made poopoo in the potty!"

Haha! An "article" from a website called "obnoxious fan" that only has three total articles (one of which rips the Blackhawks) and you want us to believe this was done by a Wings fan? Atleast we now know your name Cajanek...or should I say, Bruce Mason. Get a life. Stop looking for big brother's validation.

Thanks to that discussion started from the Blues fan, I've been watching some old clips of the Wings-Blues series in 1996. This team needs Steve Yzerman!

And that's game. Only team worse than us last 10 games are the Leafs. Kick ass 20% win percentage without Pavel.

    Call the team out

Is it just a coincidence that you call out the two players that managed to score in our last game? Imo people are making too much of this current slump. Yes SLUMP. That's what it is, not some major problems with the team. We got a few injuries and either because of that or because the planets have aligned, the team is in a bad stretch. But if it wasn't for St.Louis complete refusal to lose any game, we'd still be very close to the Conference lead. We just gotta realize we are in a SICK division this year. The Blues, Preds, Wings and Hawks are probably 4 of the top 10 or even 8 teams in the league. And the Blues especially are looking unstoppable. This bad stretch wouldn't be so terrible a normal year, but now it hurts because the other teams in our division are almost never losing.

    Call the team out

Exactly, additionally it means that teams have to focus their best defensemen on Pavel and so each line below gets to play with less defensive pressure against them. The impact of everyone not having to play above their roll/ability when Pavel and Lids are back cannot be underestimated.

    Call the team out

Couldn't disagree more. First, regardless of if they can be replaced there is a problem anytime you have 7 regular players out of your lineup. It messes with the team chemistry (that is why teams are often wary about moves at the trade deadline unless they need to change the chemistry), also you are talking about 1/2 of your regular defensive lineup that has to have an effect on a team especially one playing in front of a career AHL goalie (even if he is playing really well - you just assume it won't last). Second, Cleary should be out but of his knee but can't and is playing severely hobbled. Third, did you really compare Letang to Lids in any degree? Forth, as mentioned above Joey played well while Jimmy was hurt but no one would think of giving him a couple year contract and going with him as your starting goalie. The team knows this even if they feel comfortable with how he is currently playing careerwise he is not a NHL starting goaltender and that affects how a team plays in front of him. Finally, dismiss Bert all you want but Babs was raving about him before got hurt and the team thought he was playing great enough to give him a two year contract and raise his pay (they obviously don't think he is that "easily replaceable"). Bottom, you don't just swap out 7 players including your two best and your starting goaltender and that not have an enormous impact.

    Call the team out

The guys I was referring to that have stepped up are Z and Fil. Franzen, I'll grant you but I'm talking about the guys that we rely on to be top-end with an injured lineup or not. TBH, I just think people are getting pissy simply because this team is playing to a level that should be expected with the lineup they're currently icing and unfortunately it happens to be at one of the most crucial times of the regular season.

    Call the team out

this. We cannot continue with this injury blaming BS. It is not helping matters but it is not the sole reason we have issues. The issues have been there before the injuries. This team just lacks urgency and consistency much of the time. Babcock needs to find a way to light a fire. Franzen can't hit the broadside of a barn if it was 6 inches in front of him, Happy turn-over Hudler makes better tape to tape passes to the opponent. Lids and Dats can't take the entire team on their shoulders. I really believe this is Lids final year. He is currently in the longest injury stint of his career and the team is struggling in almost all aspects.

The Blues are in the driver's seat

The Blues are having a great season, especially considering how they started. But you have to realize that being a Blues fan on a Red Wings board, the subtext of most responses you get will be along the lines of: Maybe quell your erection until you win a round of the playoffs. To be clear, you're absolutely welcome as a fan of another team. It's great to hear about other teams from their fans and get an outside perspective. But at the same time if you're expecting a lot of people here to go out of their way to compliment the Blues, you're probably going to be disappointed.
