    2012 Lockout Watch

Interesting that Bettman's salary has risen from less than $3M before 2004-05 lockout to approx $8M today.

I laughed hard at this. Also, If we could get JBo for a sniff of Holland's taint I'd take it....as long as Huds is the one sniffing.

After the trade proposal you just threw out there I think you should be forever banned from calling someone stupid. Bouwmeester for Emmerton and the chance to sniff Holland's taint would be an overpayment. Are we that desperate for defence that we'd completely destroy our offence for a slightly better skating Quincey who would instantly be the highest paid player on the team?

That's a cheap and good deal? Massive overpayment and now you just created a scenario where an already weak top-six just lost two more players.

    2012 Lockout Watch

This whole "Bettman is the problem" thing is really getting out of hand. The guy is a slimeball, but let's give credit where it is due. Bettman is essentially employed by the owners of the teams in the NHL. It's his prerogative to make them happy, or he finds himself unemployed. All things considered, he has done an excellent job satisfying owners. The game has evolved and grown by leaps and bounds under his direction, and the owners overall have made great profits, despite everything the league has had going against it. Bettman is the voice of the owners is the labor dispute. What they want is what he has to try to sell to the NHLPA and public. Bettman is not the devil whispering evils into the ears of the owners. Its actually the other way around. He's just the front man. Edit: actually Bettman is in quite a tough pickle now that I think on it. The owners are asking for quite a lot and under the current environment are coming of as unrealistic and greedy. If Bettman can't achieve these extremely lofty and completely one-sided goals (ie owners win, players lose (again)), he may be out of a job. I'm not sure if it would come to that considering the profits that the league has earned in the past decade, but its certainly not an appealing situation to be in.

This is more a testament to how many mistakes the NHL made in expansion and how the owners are responsible for what they call the players making "too much money!" Up until a few weeks ago, the owners were still handing out $100 million dollar contracts. It the owners that are screwing each other, not the NHLPA. It reminds me of the savings and loan crisis in the U.S.....and this NHL situation would be akin to the savings and loans after collapsing or nearly collapsing, blaming the people they loaned the money to for the crisis they found themselves in. The eptitome of passing the buck for some serious mismanagement. Maybe the U.S. and Canadian goverments can come to NHL owners aide too since they are in such finacial trouble. (Eye roll)

You try to argue that Kronwall isn't a #1, well what exactly is Suter then? Because he sure as f*** hasn't proven himself as a #1 either yet. But, you like to tell all of us on this site we have no clue about hockey and that because Mr Suter didn't sign in Detroit that we are no longer a premier spot for FA's. Man, people like you make me laugh. What do you have to offer to the table? You can argue with anyone of us, but in the end you'll lose. Because your ridiculous opinions are based on beliefs that your favorite team with no history are better then an original 6 team. I'd argue with you for hours, because I'm passionate about hockey because it's the best damn sport on the face of this earth. And guys like you that don't know what your talking about, but pretend too, to get hockey fans that may be new to the sport or maybe don't know so much just to get a reaction really riles me up. Grow up, you want to have a real argument on here? Believe me, there's a ton of posters who'll school you on what you think you "believe" about hockey. You have to have a passion for a sport to LOVE it. You seem to me, nothing more, then a troll finding a sport where you think you can degrade people by talking down to them because you think you're superior. You are not, find a new website. I'm tired of your spamming bulls***, I'll take a suspension if it means my fellow Wings fans can just discuss hockey without having to hear your crap in every thread on the go lately.

Kronwall finishes #8 in shooting percentage by D-men league wide Not to mention he's one of the best hitters in the league and defensively sound....Kronwall is a #1 D-man, as he has been groomed to be Edit: Almost forgot....he finished 10th in blocked shots by D-men league wide as well

Bettman has never renegotiated a CBA without a lockout so when he threatens to lock players out again, it's hard not to fear the worst.

Uncle Gary is going to mention the word "contraction" to the owners? Three words for that meeting: Pay Per View.

Nuh UH! It's all Bettman's fault and not the players at all. They should totally make like 90% of the league revenue, and the owners can all live off of the 10% the players decide to leave. I mean, the players play the game, so they should make all the money. The owners are just rich old men that write checks and sit in their owners boxes. What do they contribute to the game? Once the players get 90% of revenues, then the minimum salary can go up to like 3 mil per year, which is only fair, since the players sacrifice so much to get where they are.

Bob Probert: 2 Years Ago Today

i agree! that buffalo brawl was a great example of what your stating....once everyone had a dance partner probert was the only Wing not paired off with anyone mostly due to the refs restraining him....but Once Macguire pummeld Stevie, Probie came in with one intention...remind people that there will be a price to pay if you even look at our stars in a bad way. then probert really reminded him the next time they played when he beat the hell out him...everyone new it was coming and it was handled, message sent, respectfully no residual damage or cheap shots, ice justice. when weber lost his marbles slammimg Z's head was the same situation....a big guy picking on a little guy, let alone one of our stars and the only reason he did it was simply that there are no reprocussions...he's the biggest guy on the ice and even if someone jumped him he still has option of not going and we get a 10 game suspension regardless. should have been 5 wings jump on him right then and there but thats another story:)

I'm so jacked about how the wings are going to look in the years to come Forwards like: Nyquist, Jarnkrok, Jurco, Frk, Tatar, Athanasiou D-men like: Smith, Sproul, Mckee, Ouellet Basically were going to be all skill and speed up front and all aggressive toughness on the back end....number9 likeyyyyyyy
