Hello Everyone, A few weeks ago, I posted a new topic about going to the Joe and asking you what seats were the best seats to go for. And a few of you answered me which was really appreciated. And you were right, there is no bad seat at the Joe. So, thank you for the people that answered my questions. I did have a great time at the game. I mean it was a 6-5 Redwings game. The only thing that was missing in the game was a fight! I really liked the arena and how it seems like the crowd is on top of the players, you don't get that in many arenas for any professional sports game. It was just a bummer that my friend and his girlfriend couldn't come because she couldn't come in because her purse was too big. I've never seen or heard that was a NHL rule of coming into games? The purse wasn't that big either. But here are some of my pictures from pre game:) Enjoy. Thank you again and good luck the rest of the way!

You are way oversimplifying this team's play this season. Its funny how you pick and choose certain players to try to get your point across. Last time I checked our team didn't consist of 6 players. To take what you did, and do it accurately, please see below: Abby: Top 6 forward. 1.8 or 4.25 million, both are not overpaying him. He is signed for too long but not overpaid at the moment. We are talking today right? Not 2021? E - Definitely unappreciated here, he's not the 7th or 8th d-man some make him out to be. With that being said, he is a bit overpaid. Kindl - Sure, overpaid Howard - Fair contract at time it was signed, but with Mrazek we dont need him. Mrazek - Great player, Great caphit. Pulks/Jurco: Extremely small cap hits for two guys 23/24 respectively. Please show me a team with guys who dont get scratched. Datsyuk/Zetterberg - Top 3 forwards, good caphits Larkin - Top 3 forwards, amazing caphit Tatar/Nyquist - Top 6 forwards, good caphits Richards - Top 9 forward, not a great caphit but only a 1 year deal. Helm - Top 9 forward, great caphit AA - Too soon to really assess either way Glendenning/Sheahan/Miller - Great 4th liners, great caphits Green - Top 4 D-man, a bit overpaid. We need his offense to step up a bit. Kronwall - Hard to say 100%. dont know if he has regressed or was just hurt the beginning of the year. Assuming he was just hurt, definitely a #2 dman with a great caphit. Qunicey - Top 4 D-man with a good caphit DD - Top 4 D-man with an amazing caphit. Smith - Good third pairing guy with a decent caphit Marchenko/Oueltte - Typical Kids getting their shot in the third pairing with very small caphits. So based on this, we have 4 Top 4 D-man but we are definitely lacking a legit #1 guy (an OEL, Weber, etc.). We have 3 top 3 forwards, 6 legit top 6 forwards, and a ton of good bottom 6 guys. I admit we could use another gritty top 6 guy, but overall I believe our top 6 (D, Z, Larkin, Tatar, Nyquist, Abby) are quite talented. Our team is much better then some people make it out to be. Due to a few bad contracts (E, Howard, Kindl) that ALL teams have, some people make us sound like we are riddled with bad contracts.

    Kyle Quincey

I've always thought Yandle was a little overrated around here, and Quincey took way too much flack up until recently. However, I'd definitely take Yandle over Quincey if we're just looking at the players, but once you factor in contracts, I'd take Quincey at $4.5M over Yandle at $6M. In saying that, I'd also rather have Ouellet or Jensen at under $1M than Quincey at $4.5M... I don't think we should bring Quincey back next season, unless we're able to get rid of both Ericsson (highly doubtful) and Kindl (somewhat probable). And if we know now that we plan on letting Quincey walk in the offseason, we should try to get a return on him at the deadline, and same goes for Richards. I think we could get a decent return on both players from a contender at the deadline, and I don't think either would be the key to our playoff success this season... Trade both, and replace Quincey with Ouellet and Richards with Pulkkinen or Mantha. I don't think it makes us any worse right now, and gives us a couple more picks to work with going forward...

Yeah they always do stick handles in the same exact spot- been that way for years now. They also do a random passing drill sometimes along the blue line. I think it's superstition/tradition.

Datsyuk Now 7th in All-Time Wings Goals

First jersey retired in new arena? Would be huge.

She didn't. I didn't know there were other spots. I honestly have no heard of that rule before in a NHL Arena. So, I was surprised when my friend texted me that. Thanks! I love taking pictures for pre game. I couldn't take my long lens so I took my short lens. I always risk about trying to bring by big lens in and the person tried to say you have to take it back to your house. I'm like uh no, nice try. haha. It was super fun! Just never heard that rule before.

Did she try going to another spot to go in? I've been there with people who had huge purses and they didn't say squat. Sounds like you got someone who was powerhungry

Great pics man! Can't wait until I go to The Joe on March 12th vs. the Rangers. I always notice Zetterberg always has to stand behind Datsyuk when he's in the faceoff circle during warm ups. Must be a superstition? I have a couple pictures of them, one taken in Detroit another one in Buffalo.

Yea I'd play it at the Rogers Center. It's has more seats, and BMO Field isn't much of a venue. It's just a soccer stadium. Rogers Center would have a better back drop with the big scoreboard, the CN Tower above it, and the Windows Restaurant.

Would be awesome if the NHL played a game at an outdoor pond somewhere in Saskatchewan. No fans. No arena. Just the middle of nowhere. Obviously wouldn't happen money wise, but I'd watch it.

    Jensen

There's no issue with Jensen; he has all the qualities you'd want in a modern NHL defenseman. Sublime skater. Moves the puck exceptionally well (whether skating it or passing it). Positionally sound and responsible. Sees the ice well, reads plays at a high level. Competes harder than most, especially on the defensive side of the puck. Can run a power play and kill penalties. Shoots right and has a great shot. This is a good player. The problem is the logjam and Kenny's refusal or inability to alleviate it. (He's a hoarder.) Ouellet and Marchenko were NHL-ready a year and a half ago. By this point, each of them -- and Jensen -- is a better defenseman than Ericsson, Quincey, Kindl.

    Jensen

The reason I brought up his preseason performance is because Nestrasil's was mentioned. Jensen played well in the preseason, and if IIRC was one of the Red Wings' last cuts before the roster was finalized. I think it's unfair to dismiss his play at the NHL level when he hasn't played at the NHL level yet. Poor example right now, but Howard was a mess at the AHL level. No consistency whatsoever. Considering the way the NHL is trending (more about the speed/skating than ever) and the way Blashill likes his defenders to be active in the play, I think Jensen could serve as a bottom-pairing guy. His skating ability allows him to rush with the puck without compromising his positioning. I'll agree with you when you cite the "nail in the coffin" being that Detroit hasn't given him a shot yet - he's 25-years-old. I think if they had plans for him with the team, he would have been given a shot over Marchenko, or more recently Ouellet. I guess the point is that it would have been nice to see him get a shot. At this point, it would have been nice to see him get in a game or two with the organization.

    The Petr Mrazek Appreciation Thread

Howard always was a goner, regardless of his performance this year. Mrazek is simply too good, and you don't trade a bright young goaltender who promises to be the best goalie in decades for your team for a 30 year old goalie who has his good times and his bad times. And for that reason, I think Howard waives his NTC. He knows he's finished here, no matter how well he plays, so I'm sure he's willing to go to almost any team that will let him start, or at least play 50/50.

Price out for the year in MTL

Ouchhhh! Their record since he was sidelined only proves what most NHL hockey fans know, and most Canadiens fans keep trying to deny..that their team is nothing without Price. Sucks when your team is based around having an elite goaltender, and Ben Scrivens is your current starter. haha
