Ladies and Gentlemen. Tonight's GDT will be a role playing fantasy of the Red Wing's players starring in a fake Dragon Ball production. Click pics to see player names/portraits clearly. Main Cast Information Henrik Zetterberg as Prince Vegeta Anthony Mantha as Goku Dylan Larkin as Trunks AA as Gohan Coach Jeff Blashill as Master Roshi The Villains of tonight's production: Jaromir Jagr as Babidi (old ass wizard dude) Mark Giordano as Majin Buu For those of you who grew up watching Dragon Ball Z or who had children watching the show; please take a seat back to the past and enjoy the two 30 second promos. For those of you who didn't watch the show, watch the promos anyway to witness the hype the kids saw everyday all those years ago. I bring you the year 2002 on Cartoon Network. As the Red Wings struggle to maintain their legacy, one may wonder.. HOW, JUST HOW WILL THEY OVERCOME THIS TERRIBLE PREDICAMENT OF HAVING THE HIGHEST PAY ROLL AND s*** PERFORMANCE? My answer is this. They need a... Desperate Assault at victory. I now bring to you, the Hype theme for tonight's game. Desperate Assault In closing, here is a quick gif of Don Zetterberg (who practically runs the team) and Ken Holland's relationship every night after the Wings lose a game. Blue haired gal is Holland. Safe to say The Don does not like losing. Disclaimer: I do not own Dragonball Z, all characters are copyrights of Toei Animation, Funimation, and their respective companies. This is a fan based fiction.

Yeah PETA can suck it. If I buy a dead cephalopod, I can eat it, throw it on the ice, or dress it up and have a tea party with 9 tea cups. What happens between a man and his octopus is his own business.

I see a lot of people making this argument. Frankly, I don't think it's much of an argument. Hicketts, 21, could use another year in the AHL. Saarijarvi, 20, is at least two years away. Cholowski, 19, is at least two years away. Hronek, 19, is at least two years away. Sambrook, 19, is at least two years away. Mcllrath, 25, is not a high-end defenseman. Sulak, 23, was a no-risk signing who may or may not have what it takes to play in the NHL. Ouellet and Jensen haven't been hugely impressive; at this point, they're serviceable middle-pairing defensemen, and that's probably all they'll ever be. Russo didn't really impress me in his stint with the Wings; I don't think he fits into our long-term plans. If we're being honest about Sproul, he's not likely to become much more than what he appears to be at this stage, which is a bottom-pairing power play specialist whose natural gifts don't outweigh his shortcomings. At this point, we could lose Sproul and Russo and Ouellet/Jensen for free and replace them with veterans and I honestly wouldn't care all that much. I don't see any of these players as true building blocks. And, to me, that's what this comes down to. Basically, our D group is bad. Daley makes it a little more competent (at least until Green's gone) -- and a slightly deeper, slightly more capable D group is a good thing for everyone. People say we need to develop our youth. Well, the NHL isn't really a development league -- but even if that weren't the case, "development" means more than just having a player on the roster and giving him ice time "because we have no one else to give these minutes to." Daley will be eating some minutes that could otherwise be going to Ouellet or Jensen, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The benefits of Daley's presence will outweigh it. A top three of Green, Daley, DeKeyser is better than a top three of Green, DeKeyser, Ouellet/Jensen/Ericsson. Having Daley run our first/second power play unit is better than having Kronwall run it. Having someone who can move the puck like Daley is a good thing. I think a lot of people are unfamiliar with Daley and are looking at his age and assuming the worst. But he's actually a perfectly competent top-four defenseman who can 1) play big minutes without getting caved-the-f***-in (see: DeKeyser), 2) outskate all of our defensemen not named Jensen (and possibly even Jensen), and 3) manufacture offense more expertly and reliably than all of our defensemen not named Green. He's our second-best defenseman. He's a solid stopgap for a team that otherwise has exactly one proven high-end NHL defenseman on its organizational depth chart (Green) and is years away from being a contender. Personally, I'm happy to have him on board. I don't think adding him hurts our youth. If anything, I think it'll help our youth.

    Tippet and Arizona part ways

Just because he doesn't get "wins" or his plays don't lead to "goals" or his d doesn't "stop pucks from going to the net" and his goalies don't "make saves" doesn't mean he is a bad coach.

Red Wings Expansion Draft Protected List

Wow! It looks like we are losing Tomas Nosek and people are upset? Ottawa is likely losing Methot, NYI are losing the 15th overall pick, we are losing Tomas fricken Nosek! Come on guys, with all due respect to Nosek, he is a 4th line player, 3rd liner at best. Some people just want to ***** and moan regardless of what happens.

    Farewell To Joe Louis Arena

this season I could finally fulfill a life long dream of going to Detroit and specifically to go visit the Joe and finally see my beloved Red Wings LIVE. I always wanted my first game ever to be there and nowhere else, so it was now or never. My most fond memories of the Joe happen in a 16 day span visiting Detroit last January. First Game, First Win: Penguins 3-6 Red Wings. I couldn't believe I was climbing the stairs I've seen on so many broadcasts, standing next to another fellow Red Wing Fan on his first game at the Joe ever as well. to walk through those doors and see Mr. Hockey, and the production line in all of it's glory. I've must have walked 6 times around the Joe, looking at every column, every mural, every poster, everything, trying to take 17 years of waiting all at once, not wanting to miss anything. Then went through that tarp and like a bright flash that blinds you for a second... our Joe in all of its splendor, it was truly breathtaking. To see the rafters, Stevie Y's banner, the ice, the smell, the noise. I couldn't believe I was finally home. 3 periods later and I was signing Journey at the top of my lungs. We had not only defeated Pittsburgh, we outscored them... for me it was so special and meaningful for a first game ever. Most Exciting Moment: started chanting AA! AA! right when he soared thorugh center ice on that 200 ft play. 9th row to the left of Fleury so got a great glimpse of the goal. That's me in red inside the circle. With my first jersey ever, 17 year old Starter. As old as my passion for the Wings. We've been through hell and back together. Shutout at the Joe: Canadiens 0 - 1 Red Wings. Met my favourite broadcaster Ken Kal before the game started, got a few pics with him, he signed a jersey (on which I managed to get Mantha, AA, DeKe, Smith, Nielsen, Nyq, Coreau, Chelios and Al Sobotka as well) and a copy of all the stats he usually gets for each game, signed an all... Sat 3rd row on the Isle by the Zamboni, right behind Price. Most thrills on a game: Bruins 5 - 6 Red Wings: Yeah that was one for the books, what a game... came back from a 4-1 deficit after they chased our goalie. tallied back to tie it at 4 and then, just like that, got scored on right away, only to tie again with less than 3 minutes in reg. some 3 on 3 hockey and then on to the shootouts. Got to see Vanek and Nielsen score, and win our 3rd in a row at home. Most disappointing game, Maple Leafs 4 - 0 Red Wings My 5th and last game ever at the Joe, I hadn't planned on attending this game, so I had to re adjust my whole trip in order to do so, get new plane tickets, called work to get a few more days off, get a new place to stay, etc. But I didn't want to miss a chance to see Babs, Matthews, Marner, etc. and specially another Original 6 team, who knows when I'll be back, if ever... Anyways, I did all this only to witness our team get handled and held scoreless, disrespected and outchanted at our own house. I had a sign and all, but kept waiting until halfway the 3rd to have it out. because I was so into the game and didn't want to block anyones view since we're all waiting for our Boyz to perform another Detroitian ComebackTM that just never happened. I stayed inside the lower bowl for as long as I could approached the benches, the sin bins, stood on the SRO area and just took a moment in silence, just me and My Joe. saying goodbye. I peaced out! my beloved Joe before heading to the Olympia for one last drink. In a table by the entrance were some Leafs fans shouting "Shutout!" to every Wings fan that passed by. After they did it to me I took out my sign and showed it to them. the heckling turned to fistbumps and Respects!, from them and some girls on other table. so It was all cool after that, To me that was amazing, how as hockey fans, we all understand what this sport means to us and how it moves us, no matter the team or the colour, or where we are from, we're all one big family, which happens to beat the crap out of each other from time to time, hehe, just one big beautiful family. Sorry for the long post but, LGRW!!! now and always.

Glad I'm not the first to mention this. Should Holland have started the rebuild sooner instead of holding on to the playoff streak? Sure, I won't disagree with anyone who wants to argue that point. However, all of you who see Hollands name and automatically scream about the sky falling, cannot claim these last 2 seasons of rebuilding haven't been wildly successful on his part. Tatar = 1st, 2nd, 3rd (fantastic haul for a middle 6 forward) Mrazek = 3rd, 3rd (great haul for a backup goalie that could be in Europe next year) Sheahan = 3rd (sucks we couldn't get more, but his value was at an all time low and we needed the cap for AA) Ott = 6th (fair) Vanek = 3rd (fair) Smith = 2nd, 3rd (highway robbery with Smith in the minors screwing up NYR's books) Jurco = 3rd (fantastic haul for an AHL/NHL tweener) Datsyuk = 2nd (between a rock n a hard place, traded out Chychrun for Cholo and got the cap space, fair) Kindl = 6th (thrilled just to get anything) I'm not at all mad about a single trade he's done since the rebuild started. And the Mrazek, Tatar, and Smith trades have me particularly happy. For a man who's never had to rebuild before he's doing grade A quality work so far. If you need every roster player to be traded in order to be happy, I think you're being a bit unrealistic with your expectations. Where I do draw issue, and where I think most of this boards frustrations truly lie, is with Blashill coming back. The whole "fresh voice" thing hasn't worked at all. Young players who had bright futures under Babs almost immediately regressed, and he's getting subpar performances from our vets as well (though aging plays a role with some). If we should damn anyone right now it's Blash, and if you wanna put Holland on blast, blast him for keeping Blash, otherwise Holland has been fantastic the last 2 seasons.

We missed the playoffs a single season. The Red Wings should just be dissolved and the city evacuated. There no hope. Life is a meaningless spiral of dysfunctional malaise. Burn your remaining jerseys for they bring nothing but despair as the Red Wings are no longer the very best team and are now filled with over-dramatic cry-babies.

Thanks to all of the fans who hung in here all season, and participated in the GDTS. Thanks to the GDT talents (Nerve Damage, Hockeytown, Mabus, all of you). Thanks to Matt, of course, and to the intrepid mods. You all are awesome for giving us the best site in hockey to laugh and cry and cheer for our Wings. It's been a tough season, but better days are coming. LGRW!!!

What the hockey gods didn't give to Helm, they gave to Athanasiou. He has some hands for sure. Goes well with that speed. Like wine & cheese.
