I'll be at the game tonight, guy I work with is a Preds season ticket holder and he sold he his tickets for the game. Might try to check in at intermission if my phone has a charge. I'll snap a couple pics and throw a hotdog at Blashill. LGW!!

I'm not blaming Blashill for this. This has been the Red Wings way for the past couple decades. I think it's coming from upper management to be honest. It makes sense to bring the kids along slowly, or even scratch them from time to time when you're in the playoff hunt. But when you're at the bottom of the league, and you have veterans playing much worse on a nightly basis, it's inexcusable. Cholowski has been far from perfect the past dozen games or so, but when you have Ericsson in the lineup every night causing turnover after turnover, he shouldn't be immune to being scratched. I'm happy Daley is returning. Maybe he can play well enough over the next 7 games for a team to call and pick him up for a playoff run... Doubtful, but maybe... Cholowski was healthy scratched for the first time in his home town. Watch him be scratched again on Thursday against Ottawa on his bobble-head night...

Looked over the february schedule and - outside of the OTT game coming up - it looks like we could be on our way to a eleven game losing streak. Which is good, I guess?

Those are easy: Didn't watch Dragonball Z Batman. Aside from kryptonite, Superman is highly susceptible to rich guys (Lex Luther). Bruce Wayne is rich b*tch. And he's a violent maniac. I've always wondered who would make a Super Bowl first, the Lions or Browns. It's like every 7 years the window for each team changes on the other, now the Browns are ascendent.

Going into Nashville tonight, the Wings are just 2 points off the #1 overall pick. Besides a Red Wings fan I'm also a Browns fan. Oh, you'd better believe it's right and proper to hope for the #1 overall pick once you get to this miserable place in the season (That almost becomes the competition, don't try hard and beat the Bengals if the 49ers or Bears are playing a winning team). You can't tank but losses shouldn't upset you. The only way this team gets better is through the draft it appears. Give the new GM, whomever that might be, a #1 pick. Don't feel bad wanting it. Wins vs. Toronto and Montreal are still expected. If you do Fang Fingers you're out of the fort...

I think once he's done here it'll be hard for him to get a job... if he does it'll be with a team in a non-traditional hockey market where teams have sucked for ever...

This is all just the major stuff that KH would be directly involved with. Seems like he worked more than 3 days in 2018, right?

I actually see Jensen as a Daly type guy. Since he's never been all that offensive anyway, there's not much of a fear that his production will drop off. His longevity is almost entirely dependent on how well he can continue to skate and defend. And I don't see either of those things going away. IF we re-sign him, I wouldn't do it for too much money. But I'd expect his value to remain pretty constant for the next 4-5 years because what he does well doesn't go away overnight the way offensive production can.

Too many variables here to really know. In theory I'd be willing to trade Jensen OR re-sign Jensen depending on a few things. Is Kronwall retiring? Do we get an NHL ready defensive prospect at the trade deadline? What term might Jensen want on a new deal? Hypothetically, if the Wings got Fabbro (I'd rather have Toews) as a return at the deadline then you probably need to trade Jensen. If we don't get a defensive prospect a the TDL, and we're not planning on chasing a UFA defenseman, and Kronwall is retiring then we need to re-sign him. This is the calculus Holland and co. need to navigate on this one.

Disagree here. Jensen is a decent, reliable 3rd pairing D and a right handed shot. He also is still relatively young. The draft pick that Holland would get back by trading him wouldnt be high enough to make it worth trading him IMO. In Jensen's case, the player is worth more than the potential of the return. Just re-sign him instead.

Probably pretty accurate. I just really hope Kronwall hangs them up after this season. He's had a great career, but he's definitely lost a step, and just not an effective top four defenseman anymore. We have a log jam on defense as it is, and need to make room for Hronek full time next season. Call it a career Nik.
