So.....as always, take this with a grain of salt, but I just got finished talking to my friend (the one who told me Yzerman was pretty much already running the team before he was hired) and he told me his source on the team (training staff) that Blashill will be gone VERY SOON, if not within DAYS and Dan Bylsma is going to be the new HC. He did say the his source didn't know if it was going to be on an interim basis, or permanently. HE also said that Yzerman is a supporter of Bylsma, so that could factor in. Again, it's my friend who is very close with a trainer for the team. Take it as you may.

Well, Wings are in the same state as me, but I am not there. Once upon a time, I would have been driving to Dallas today... Stars will be all full of themselves after winning the "winter classic" on NY Day. Their fans are not mature, so expect an unfriendly welcome in Big D, my Wings. See you guys later, Happy New Year!! xo looo PS - second largest crowd at Winter Classic at just under 90,000. Wings v Loafs in 2014 was the largest at 105,000. Not everything is bigger in TX.

Pepes galore So Jim Montgomery had a drinking problem. Not as exciting drama as I hoped lol. Stars probably told him to get his s*** together and get sober and he didn't and got caught. Hope the firing wake up call helps him pull himself together. One of those things where he probably says getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to him in a few years. Guy can probably still get a job somewhere in the future too I would think. In unrelated news, I hope the Stars celebrated after that WC win and their livers are still feeling it!

Unfortunately looks like Larkin is more of a 2C which means we have another big hole to fill (among the dozens of other holes).

I am not crazy about the GREEEEEEN-ness of their jerseys. I live in TX, and love hockey. I also lived in MN when the North Stars were still there. Hockey did not begin its existence in 1992. Try telling that to Dallas fans. LOL~~ I would never, ever wear Wings gear in Dallas now. Back 20 years ago, yes. Now, no. I take Uber to the arena, as my car has Wings license plates and emblems on it. i miss Reunion Arena (Dallas version of the Joe). it's gone. Since AA was opened I have noticed a shift in fan attitude. Basically, if they're winning, fans are OK, I guess since they are winning? Very fickle group, but fairly typical of this region. Detroit fans are the best. I watch (closely) how they respond to the team which doesn't win often. They cheer and love them, and support the Wings. That's why I am a Wings fan.. right there. if they boo'ed this team (and Dallas fans would) - it would gut the current version of the Red Wings. Love Motown!!

When I attended a game back in '96 the Dallas fans were all quite nice, and very courteous...Sad to see that this may not be the case these days...Still - I gotta admit to really liking their WC jersey...I hope they wear it more often from now on.

Absolutely. Dude is more skilled than everyone AND he plays a gritty, aggressive, heavy, well-rounded game. Total throwback player. Impossible not to love what he brings to the table. Imagine having Bertuzzi, Hronek, Seider, Rasmussen, Smith, and Lafreniere all on the same team. Truculence for days. ok but who would we be sending to the rangers

Not to mention that he loves to hit, and backchecks like a beast.

Fins are always super underrated in these tournaments, they play a hell of a team game despite not having many big names. Did the same to Canada last year.

Americans are toast. As questionable as Canada's leadership group was early in this tourney, at least they're not the US. Where were "Goal" Caufield and Trevor "Better than Seider" Zegras today?

This whole team Canada in the world juniors thing has me attached to him now. A Red Wings without Lafreniere is a future I do not want to imagine right now.

But he has scored at a 3rd line level. Correct? In my original lineup, I had him pegged as a 3rd line winger. Apparently that's blasphemy... The skill is there with Perlini. He is not a 4th line player on an average team, let alone the worst team in the entire league. It's dumb, and I can't believe you (and others) are actually arguing this... We have two options. We can continue playing him on our 4th line with non NHL talent, and let him walk this offseason, losing out on him and Regula. OR we can put him on a line with actual NHL quality players, boost his stats, and trade him at the deadline...
