Alright. Now that you've made amends, back to your last comment. I'm feeling better about Rossi. You single handedly did this. Also, I like that he's Austrian for some weird reason. Plus he plays like Zegras, on juice.

You've never seen him at Golden Corral.

I'm pumped too. I was afraid no one would step up and make things really interesting. Rossi's 5'9, so I wouldn't bet big money on him becoming a gamebreaking 1C -- and a future gamebreaking 1C is what we should be hoping for if we're taking a centerman in the top 4. That's not to say Rossi isn't awesome, mind you.

I'm not convinced Rossi plays center at the NHL level. Maybe, but being that undersized I wouldn't bet on it. I know there are examples of elite undersized centers in the league (Point), but I'd say more convert to wing than stay center. Also, it's hard to say for certain that Rossi is / will be a more talented offensive player than Raymond based on play from two different leagues. I asked the question because not too long ago, you didn't think it was certain that Lafreniere would go number one.

I 100% agree. But I also have to be prepared for the likely scenario that we end up drafting 4th and Lafreniere, Byfield, and Stutzle are off the board. And in that scenario I'd be very pleased with Rossi.

You musta been gone a while. We all think Larkin sucks now. I know, I see your points, but the board even convinced level-headed me too.

Idk mannnnn that's a really tough sell. He'll be 36 when his contract is up. Didn't Cleary hang em up at 36? Not a lot of 36 year old bottom 6ers getting 2x2s. Brian Boyle signed for less than a mil and he's 34. Troy Brouwer signed for 750K and he's 34. Corey Perry signed 1.5 and he's 34 You see what I'm sayin? He's prollly gonna be lucky to get any kind of offer at 36.

This is one of the reasons I like Button. He says how he feels, doesn't worry about prevailing narratives.

I would really hate to see Fabbri go buttttt If Yzerman turned a waiver pick up into say Yaroslav Askarov, that would be ******* legendary on his part. That appeals to me.

Can't wait till the lottery has passed and we know our draft position. Get a poll thread going to see who everyone wants. I think if we're not the #1 pick the general consensus will be Stoots

Given that AA has pretty low trade value, and Robby Fabbri has played pretty well, if I'm Yzerman I'm taking calls on Fabbri at the deadline as well. Long term you need to keep one of the two, and Fabbri is definitely the better player, but if someone's offering a 1st (hypothetically) for Fabbri and we can lock up AA at a lower price (because of the down year) you have to consider it.

Although he´s on the wing, he´s playing more like a center, always first one back. His offense comes from his defensive play, creating turnovers through hard backchecking. He´s really good, fast skater, thinks the game faster than any of his teammates, which makes me curious to see how he´s playing with better players. I have no clue how good he is on faceoffs because he isn´t taking any so far. All in all you get an 18yo with one year pro experience and the chance to play directly in the AHL if he is not making the team out of camp, who plays a responsible, mature game combined with speed and skill. Whoever is picking him will have real good player

I'm still not *super* familiar with the relevant players, but atm my guys are Stutzle, Raymond, Drysdale. I'd say Raymond is the most "Yzerman guy" of the three. Smallish, shoots right, tenacious, plays The Right Way, instinctively understands the finer points of two-way hockey and possession and high-level playmaking. Here's a nerdy analysis:

I dont think I would trade any of the young core. Constantly recycling players just prolongs a rebuild. Rather see SY fill roster needs thru the draft an free agency. Making a new hole to fill another doesnt make much sense to me.
