The way it works actually is that each of the 8 play in losers have an equal 12.5% chance. That "team to be determined" is literally just that. What sours me the most is that other fans get to be excited to win a series or the draft and we have to eat s*** after a brutal season of hockey. NOT the way the lotto is supposed to work.

There was a higher probability that one of the "play-in" teams would win the lottery, with 24.5%, than the team with the worst record in the NHL, with 18.5% chance... Worst case scenario was dropping back to 4th. That obviously happened. I was pissed. I am pissed. But what makes it even worse, is the fact that a team that clearly doesn't need the help, at least not as much as the bottom feeders, will end up with one of the top prospects in the past 10+ years. A franchise player... If Lafreniere ends up in Toronto, Montreal, Pittsburgh, or Chicago, I will be pissed... Hopefully he ends up in Columbus or Arizona. I know most would be pissed if he ends up in Edmonton, but I'm here for it...

Montreal would not upset me as much as the others. Thay have been trying to compete for years with a roster that is worthy of tanking.

Also, we only lost 2 spots in 17 due to the lottery because Vegas knocked everyone outside the top 3 down a spot. We also fell from from 5 in 18, not 3.

well, so here's to hoping the #1-#3 players drafted are all busts and the #4 becomes the gem! as much as we all KNOW we got screwed, can't change it now. No surprise there. Couple this with not knowing when the Wings will even play again, I'll probably tune out for a while. Unfortunately, there's just no fun in being a fan at the moment.

I mean you knew as soon as the league contorted itself into a pretzel in order to include 8 mystery teams to be determined with another draft that this was written in stone.
