I really don't want picks as the center part of these trades though. At a certain point you have to start building and not trading anything that's not nailed down for guys who may or may not be any good 3-4 years down the road (typical timeline for late 1st/2nd round picks). I'd rather we look to established young guys who are on teams that are either A) up against the cap and need to offer better returns for cap relief, or B) too deep to give these guys a bigger role. I think Yzerman likes Larkin, Bert, Fabbri, and (maybe) Vrana and Hronek as the older leadership group on the team. As good as we've played this year I don't see him moving any of these guys. I can envision a world in which we're competing for Cups with the guys mentioned above as our 28-31 year old veteran leaders and Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, and Cossa are our stud young guns. But we still need to add a center who fits one of the two age groups.

In general I like our trade pieces this year. I think it will be an exciting deadline. Leddy isn't what he was, but he's young and fresh enough off good seasons that I think we're gonna at least get our 2nd back if not sucker someone into 1st level compensation. Fabbri should get low 1st or 2nd level compensation. Names is playing his balls off right when we need him to. Maybe as high as a 3rd? Couple Bruins fans mentioned they really liked Staal (granted he scored last night). Stecher should fetch some depth drafting. DK is the only one with the headache contract. If we were to trade them all we're going to go into next season with a boat load of money and picks again, but this time with nothing significantly bad on the books. I don't know how SY couldn't pursue at least one big name. We just got a lot more attractive with Seider and Raymond.

Kinda wanna keep him right now TBH He's only ever been traded for 4th rounders in the past, and he grew up around Detroit with uncle Kozlov. If he's willing to re-sign cheap I'd welcome him back.

He was on pace for 23 goals his rookie season. I honestly don't know what TF happened to the kid between now and then. He's actually looks like a better player now. But the counting stats are depressing.
