What in the world are you talking about? Show me one time where I said we need to get rid of anyone. I LIKE STUART!!! But I'm not gonna give someone a pass for playing like s*** in a game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. NO ONE And in a game 6 or 7 in the Finals, you should expect it to be tight, low scoring 1 goal games. It's not gonna come easy for anyone. And it didn't for the penguins either, even with Stuart's horrible giveaways.

I don't see why people act like this is such a different team than the one that won a cup 2 years ago. Screw Hossa and his 40 regular season goals. We won with out him, lost with him, why do people act like this team is so worse off than our CUP winning team? Was Hudler really that big of a player in people's minds? Kopecky? The Shinguard assassin himself, Sameulson? I don't get it, wtf is wrong with people? This team, AS IS (when healthy of course), is fully capable of making another serious deep run. Why not? Was Kopecky or Sameluson or Hudler or even all 3 really that key to our success the past few years? NO

I'll agree that we shouldn't have let it even get to a game 7. But since it did, everything else up to that point is irrelevant and it's 1 game, winner takes all. Boy oh' boy what a time to play like s***, eh?

The biggest possible 1 game in hockey on the biggest stage this game has to offer, he choked. People, specifically Redwing fans, will remember. I don't see what's so hard to understand or why people can't seem to comprehend why this might linger in some people's mind. Does it mean Brad Stuart is a piece of s*** because of it? Of course not, he's a good player that adds an element this team needs and I'm happy (especially right now) to have him. But I'm sure as hell not gonna forget even if I wanted to, how could I? It was game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals! Since I'm only specifically complaining about Stuart in the one biggest game I've ever seen the Redwings play, you're wrong, and you're wrong. Other than that he's been good and I have no other complaints.

I like Stuart a lot, I know he's been great for us and his game is something this team lacked before we got him. But, motherf*** he picked the absolutely worst time to play his worst game. And guess what, you know why it's what people remember? It was the Finals and everything in the Finals gets remembered and magnified. That's what the Finals are all about. I also have no doubt we'll make the playoffs, to say otherwise is silly to me. We'll stay close with our AHL team (people seem to conveniently leave this out when they trash the poor results the Wings have been having) , then our normal roster will slowly but surely come back before the playoffs and we'll be rested and ready to roll right in. Wings may even 1 up last year's Ducks as the most dangerous #8 seed ever. I'll take that scenario.

I wonder what he had to say in that locker room after game 7 of last year's Finals.

Are you seriously comparing the Pirates to a team which is pretty much unanimously thought of as the premiere franchise in it's sport, year after year? Whether you like the Wings chances or not, that's some perrty smrt logik rite thur!

Did those same Maple Leafs also start their first two games in a circus type atmosphere on the other side of the planet? Those games meant nothing except to the poor native swedes who didn't get to see their hometown heroes win. Real season starts when they get back to the states afaic.

People telling people to calm down need to calm down. It's not shame on Hitch for wanting to be the best, it's shame on him for thinking it's possible!

Wings lost 3 in a row to the Ducks in 07'.

I also always try to remember this whenever the Wings have gone down 3-2 in a series. It just hasn't ever worked out the same way since ;p

It was 07', the series was tied 2-2 and that home game we lost was game 5. There was a dumb penalty and then a non-call in the last minute that aloud the Ducks to even tie a game that should have been won by Detroit. Then Detroit had to face elimination in Anaheim. Anyone can say what they want, but it kinda goes without saying (i'll say it anyways) if Detroit loses game 5 we're in big big ******* trouble.

Allow me to rant here for a minute. I don't post much on any board, but I do a lot of reading. And what always seems to be a common theme on every teams board I read come playoff time is no matter what team / city Detroit plays, their fans seem to automatically assume the position or claim the title that *their* team is Detroit's biggest rival! Saw it a lot with Nashville in years past, saw it with Columbus in the first round, and of course with Anaheim having beat us the last two times we played in the playoffs. Let me start with Anaheim, if I HAD to chose 1 team as our rival, I guess I would have to choose them, although it was no where near the true rivalry we had with Colorado. The teams from 03' had almost nothing to do with the teams from 07'. And Duck fans still bragging about that year just makes me laugh and think "Oh yea?!! What about the 2 times we meet in the 90's?! HUH?!" ... Makes no sense, but whatever they don't have much of a history so they gotta reach for anything they can get, so be it. Now let's move onto Columbus. Or as they seem to think, Ohio State versus U of M!!! That and just anyone from Ohio absolutely despises anything to do with Michigan. I'll be honest, I don't get it. I live in Detroit, I live in Michigan, born and raised. I'VE NEVER MET ANYONE IN MY LIFE THAT EVER GAVE TWO f***S ABOUT THE STATE OF OHIO!!! My friends are all sports fans, my family mostly sports fans, trust me, NO ONE GIVES A s*** about your state- past the college football games!! OK?!! GIVE IT UP!! Columbus is NOT Detroit's biggest rival because your state hates us over some college football rivalry! Now Chicago, for some oddball reason, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for ANY Chicago team. We don't hate Chicago in Detroit!! Where is all this HATE coming from?!! Are you all really just that much of a bunch of HATERS in Chicago? If Detroit woulda lost, I woulda been pulling for Chicago 100%, not even thought twice about it, that is, untill I just read their boards. Holy s*** they hate us lol! News flash Chicago, just because we're both Original six, just because we're both in the Central Division, just because we played in the Winter classic, just because you THINK we're your arch-rivals.. WE'RE NOT!! Let the Wings build a little real history with our current teams before we start jumping the gun on this stuff. And for god sakes.. stop the ******* hate. Ohio and Chicago both! Trust me, Detroit doesn't put a quarter of thought into this rivalry bulls*** as you two so desperately seem to want.

Want to address a few things here I guess, so I'll quote the whole thing. My post isn't about the old' days, or old rivalry's. I'm sure all of the Wings fans here remember our rivalry with Colorado but I'm also sure as heated of a rivalry as it was, it's long gone. So addressing band wagon hoppers post 95' misses the point. As of right now, Detroit has no clear cut rival. You can try to make a case under a few different circumstances, I'm sure Chicago thinks we're theirs, but you're not ours. Anyways besides that, Chicago's clear hatred seems to go much deeper than hockey, same with Ohio's (obviously, they think everything is about OSU vs. UofM!) and I don't necessarily buy the "Detroit Redwings have been kicking our ass for so long it makes us hate you cause your team has been the best". Chicago Bulls were the best for a long time, killed the Bad-boys and then went on to win a million championships, I didn't hate on you guys! Guess what, No one from Detroit did either. When people talked about your team they'd just kinda be in awe if it, none of this ******* VENOM and HATRED you guys seem to be so proud of, it's kinda FRAIL if you ask me, man UP! Sorry 2nd city, sorry you can't always be the best at everything. You don't have to always HATE someone that's got something better than you. God forbid you give poor' ole' De-TROIT a little ******* shine for anything. And as far as counting you out, don't forget I do watch our teams play a lot, considering we're in the same division and all. I knew Chicago had what it took to beat both teams mentioned above, and I know not to count you out vs. Detroit. But even if I didn't think Chicago had what it takes to give Detroit a run for it's money I don't have to be careful about anything, not the end of the world home-boy. My team has of course won 4 recent cups, my cups have runith over, can't win em' all, ya know! And you can bet your sweet ass on one more thing, I'm not gonna ******* hate on your whole damn city like a bunch of haters to the west of Detroit does because "wahhhh my team didn't win I HATE you guys!!"

I think Chicago is just a bunch of 100% pure unadulterated HATERS! No other way to explain it. They go through life being known as the 2nd City and it's created some kind of inferiority complex. Stop the hate haters.

Well what ever it was, Michiganders have let it go by now. I live here so you can't really tell me any different. When I speak to anyone on a day to to basis, even when talking sports (Indians / Tigers - Cavs / Pistons - BJ's / Wings) I never hear any of this venom towards their state - EXCEPT the OSU v. UofM thing. Thats it. So whatever it was, Michigan for the most part has let it go, Ohio should try the same! And Chicago holy s***, wow, I wanna say you guys hate us more than Ohio! Seems to definitely go past the Wings kicking your guy's ass the past 2 decades. You folks had the Bulls, basically ended my bad-boys era of basketball, and I don't hate you for it! Good run they had, grats! Stop the hate!

I'm not saying that. I guess what I meant to say was I've lived all over my state (except maybe the west side) from Detroit to the burbs to Houghton Lake and then back to Detroit and I've never met anyone who even mentions any kinda hate towards Ohio what-so-ever. Aside from our College football rivalry no one is upset with Ohio!! But you guys seem to hate us for some god-awful reason;p No one says you guys have to fall in love with Detroit's ghettos when you drive here for Wings games or Cleveland fans for Tigers games, whatever, but the absolute venom you folks spit from Chicago or Ohio in particular is just beyond me. There is a genuine hate for Michigan and Detroit in general that goes way past hockey or basketball, but we don't feel that way about you guys, so I guess I don't get it.

Datsyuk has had a 100 point season? No, close doesn't count, sorry. Gordie Howe never had a 50 goal season, no matter how close he was so don't say otherwise just because it sounds better for your argument. Me and my brother had this exact same argument before last year's playoffs started so we made a little bet. Who ever had the better post season last year we would agree was the better player. I'd rather have a Conn Smythe winner over a Hart Trophy winner any day of the week (not that Datsyuk has won the Hart, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as a finalist). Oh btw, of course my brother reneged on the bet. He said it didn't count cause Osgood shoulda won the Conn Smythe ;p

-Pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. About four months ago or so, ON THIS VERY BOARD there was quite a few very vocal people who seemed to have no problem proclaiming Burke the best, HANDS DOWN, and his team was the reigning champ, NUFF SAID!!!11!!11 Personally, I always thought he was just a hotheaded ranting and raving lunatic embarrassment of a GM in Vancouver. Then got FIRED because he couldn't get the job done, went to a small hockey market with no real pressure from the surrounding community to preform and then got lucky. Just real funny how it's now pretty much unanimous in people's opinions of him now. If he thought the pressure to win was high in a Canadian city like Vancouver, I can't wait to see him fail in Toronto, and he will.... Miserably.

I saw him on the ice getting interviewed by Bernie and Mickie. Looked like after most every one had cleared off tho.
