  1. That's an opinion...and you are welcome to it.

But one could easily argue that from top to bottom, this is the best Blues team ever assembled.

From coaching, to goaltending, to defense, to offensive depth. The only thing they don't have is an explosive offense with a superstar or two up front...yet they have been scoring at a higher clip lately, so that's promising.

But again, good/great Blues teams of the past have nothing to do with this team except for playing in the same city and being called the Blues. I'm not sure why some like to bring that up. Kind of stinks of desperation during a discussion.

My post really wasn't about an "opinion", I was merely trying to make a point, one you obviously missed. The over-all theme of the point I was trying to make has to do with success, which the Wings have an abundance of, and your teams' lack there of (even when your expectations were high, probably even higher than now).

Now let me help you understand it a little better through your homer vision, which is probably the only way you'll comprehend so please bare with me. Just for arguments sake, let's talk about baseball for a moment. Now I know the Tigers are not even in the same league, let alone division as the Cards', but could you imagine a Tigers' fan coming over to a Cardinal's forum BRAGGING about how the Tigers MIGHT win a division title? Even with a much improved Tigers team, considering all the success the Cards' have had it would be laughable, and for good reason!

Yankee fans' have a reason to be cocky

Cardinal fans' have a reason to be cocky

Patriot fans' have a reason to be cocky

Giants fans' have a reason to be cocky

Laker fans' have a reason to be cocky

Red Wings fans' have a reason to be cocky

The Blues being 7 pts. ahead of the Wings, or even possibly being a top seed ARE NO REASON TO BE COCKY.

Now considering for how long the Red Wings have been taking your asses to school, I can't believe Blues' fans haven't learned this lesson yet!

I'm just enjoying the return to respectability, being cautiously optimistic, and hoping for the best.

    If you say so ;p

  2. The Blues have had better teams than this in the past, and amounted to jack s***. Every one of you Blues' fans talkin' trash should probably wait until June, after St. Louis wins the last game on the year. Until that happens, nothing your team does will ever really impress any Wings' fans. Win the Division? A Presidents' Trophy? Great, hang a banner... How many are hanging at the Joe? Not a whole lot of Wings' fans even care about the ones that DETROIT has, are we supposed to care because the Blues might win one this year?

Holy s***, and I thought Chicago fans' were cocky after 1 Stanley Cup. At least they got one!

  3. I gave up on the series after being down 3-0. I've been telling myself no way in hell they can win another game. Going into game 6 I really believe there is no way in hell they can win another. So far so good.

  4. Who cares? Seriously. Who cares? They won, they can chant/sing/say whatever the hell they want. To the victor go the spoils. Just like if we win the Cup next season, our fans can chant/sing/say whatever the hell THEY want.

I've never seen a group of people more preoccupied with the goings-on of some other team's fan base than this one. Yeesh.

That's funny... because I've never seen a poster more preoccupied with what other people are posting about.

Still trying to determine if this makes you a hypocrite... I'm thinking yes.

    lulz, perfect.

  5. ahh yes how could I forget about this song, heh. Didn't seem so distinct to my ears, maybe I just need a hearing aid but are you sure there wasn't any other singing in unison going on? Anyways, thanks for the fast replys, you f***ers are quick!

  6. In the 3rd period the crowd seemed to be singing a chant in unison, I couldn't quite make it out. Aside from "BULLs***" , "Let's go Redwings!" or "SOUTH DETROOOIT!" I don't ever really recall any other chants. Was pretty cool, can someone fill me in?

  7. Atleast your honest about being a blind homer. Nothing wrong with it, just a lot of people on this forum also appreciate hockey as a whole.

Ahh you see, your definition of a "Blind Homer" is all wrong if that's what you think I am. A "Blind Homer" would be someone like my brother, who every single year says this is the Lions year. I don't cliam my team is something it ain't or act like it's capable of something it isn't. That my friend, is a blind homer.

I'm just a die hard hometown fan.

Detroit team's in general get hated on so hard across the whole nation, I'm supposed to take that and spread love back?

So if it ain't Detroit, yea, f*** em.

  8. Yeah, whoever isn't a Wing deserves to be hated. f*** the rest of the NHL!

    Yea, pretty much.

I'm sorry but to me, pro sports are all about the home squad. If my team ain't in it, I may watch out of curiosity, but I can't bring myself to give a s*** about anyone other than my home teams.

I guess this makes me an *******, yea? Sorry :(

If I had to move away from my home city, yea I'm still sticking with my home team. Or if I had like a child or a brother that played for some team or school outside of my region. Or unless there was no home team close and I had to just pick a favorite team somewhere. I just don't see how people could care about other teams elsewhere. To me, it's all about sticking with the home team.

    - Yes, these are my rules, I made them up and I'm stickin to em' :)

I got friends I argue about this s*** with. To me they're just bandwagon "Colt fans" or bandwagon "Yankee fans" or as we now seem to have in Detroit, bandwagon "Blackhawk fans".

  9. You really have to be a jealous wings fan to think he meant that.

    Jealous? heh

I am from Detroit, ya know.

Jealous of the Yankees over the Tigers? Maybe.

Jealous of the Steelers? Yea, sure. I hate watching the Lions suck for so long.

Jealous the Spurs had so many championships already when they got in the way of the Pistons from going back 2 back? - Guilty

Jealous of the Chicago Blackhawks over the Red Wings? - LOL

Wings have been our one constant for years. WTF is there any reason for me to be jealous about? When it comes to the NHL, that's the other fan's job.

  10. People in this thread who are fabricating lies and false information should be banned. Hossa never said Detroit Red Wings are not hungry and that's why he fled to Chicago. That's a bold face lie and should result in a perma-ban.

Hossa said Hawks are an upcoming team with lots of hunger. His exact quote is: ""Those guys are going to be hungry," said Hossa [about the HawksPENGUINS]. "They've got lots of experience right now from last year."

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?...entryID=4211301

    Fixed.

Posted the wrong link perhaps? OMG FALSE INFO!

Holy s***, banned? WTF are you talking about are you serious? I just remember him saying some s*** about how oh so hungry the Hawks are so that's why hes gone there instead, like apparently the Wings weren't? Haha s*** man chill out.

Look it you freakin' nut jobs. If Hossa is that damn special to your metro sexual man-crushes that it makes you wanna flame anyone that has the gall to question anything about the guy, then by all means... GO CHEER HIM ON IN CHICAGO! And quit flaming Wings fans that might not like him anymore. After all, we are WINGS fans, and he is no longer a Red Wing, so afaic, f*** em!

  11. Close to 20 between the two of them.

I think we'd be doing better than with Leino and Bert (despite the nice game he had last night), but that wasn't my original contention, if we go way back -- that the two were excellent role players that delivered in key moments and that certainly can't be overlooked.

So the two of them together averaged a little over 2 goals per round over the last 8 rounds of playoff hockey, albeit a few big ones. I see your point, but I still think people are being paranoid and given the chance, the roll players we have now can accomplish the same thing with our healthy roster on the ice to make them better, as was the case with Hud's and Sammy.

  12. Hudler also had a GWG and a goal in Game 7 after that hit versus the Ducks, that to go along with his GWG in the Finals the previous year in that critical Game 4. Sammy less of a factor after his OT goal but let's not forget his tour de force in Game 1 of the Finals the year before.

Life goes on without them, but for role players they certainly made their marks and contributed heavily to the Wings' success the last two playoff years.

So you're basically talking about a sum total of 4 or 5 goals out of 8 rounds of playoff hockey. I'm sure there's a few more we're not mentioning, and I'm a firm believer any goal in the playoffs is a huge goal. But I gotta believe with our current full roster healthy and on the ice, any of the roll players we have now will fare just as well as anyone that left.

Do you really think Kopecky, Hudler or Sammy would be flourishing right now without the Mule, Kronwall or Flip? I doubt it.

  13. I didn't have any issue with Hossa when he first left. A little stunned he wen't to the Hawks? Maybe, but whether he stayed or left after last year I understood what him signing here was all about. At least we didn't give up s*** to get him like the Pens did. So no, its not that I'm bitter for any reason as Z & D suggests. But when he leaves for a Central team that we just beat, that he describes as being hungrier than us, I took it as an insult. Sorry!

And seeing as he had zero goals in the Finals, I thought for him to even mention the word hunger was irony at it's finest.

Sorry people are pissed and sorry you all loved the man so much. But look at the bright side Z&D, him staying in the Central gives you the chance to cheer him on 3 times per year down at the Joe. Maybe you'll even get to see him and the Hawks beat the Wings in the playoffs? You'll probably love that one eh. I'm sure you'll be just as quick and accurate with all his statistical points and plus / minuses then too.

  14. Try 3 points, ******. And he had 3 points.

******? Wow, what was it, the huge 3 point statistical error? Or do you think he was right in questioning the Wings hunger as he left? Or You got a man crush on Hossa?

So sorry to rile you up there buddy, but if you're calling me a ****** for any or even all of the above reasons, then you're an.... Enema?

Cool huh. Maybe I shoulda said zero goals, cause that's pretty s***ty too. I knew it was zero something!

  15. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. ;) Sammy and Hudler in particular scored a lot of big goals for the Wings in both Cup Finals runs.

Hudler was pretty much nonexistent after he got rocked by Mike Brown in the 2nd round last year.

And Sammy? I think he did score 1 big OT goal in the WCF last year, yea? I'll give em that. But I got a hard time getting those F'n goal posts from the Finals out of my head.

Either way I truly think we are no worse for ware without any of them. If our team wasn't decimated by all these injuries right now, the Wings would like usual, be 1st in the Central where we belong and all this talk would be a none issue.

  16. Ya he plays through a painful injury that drastically effects the mobility of his arm and doesn't say a word about it. Grits his teeth and gets it done, all the while putting up 15 points and being a +9.

That's what you get with Hossa.

Yea and as he's leaving he makes a statement questioning the Wings (excuse me a sec) *ahem*..... lol, HUNGER? If he was so hurt maybe he shoulda just sat it out anyways, whats the difference - 0 points in the Finals. And he questions the Wings hunger as he leaves. What A *******...............

    JOKE!

  17. So we should really be getting rid of Zetterberg, Dats, Lids. Hell, we have to get rid of the whole team. They sucked it up, they're gone right?

What in the world are you talking about? Show me one time where I said we need to get rid of anyone. I LIKE STUART!!!

But I'm not gonna give someone a pass for playing like s*** in a game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. NO ONE

And in a game 6 or 7 in the Finals, you should expect it to be tight, low scoring 1 goal games. It's not gonna come easy for anyone. And it didn't for the penguins either, even with Stuart's horrible giveaways.
