GDT ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)
UKWING replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
yeah you are right - replacing smith with quincey makes the top 4 respectable! quincey, kindl, laschoff and smith are all much of a muchness - they are all crap. i struggle to see how replacing the coach would make any difference - the wings would still have a vastly inferior roster to the top teams. it is the guy that has overseen the wings go from having the best top 4 in hockey to having one of the worst in the space of a few years that has to take the blame -

cant believe people are calling for babcock's head - just look at the roster of the wings vs the bruins and it should be clear where the blame lies! they are superior in every area and should have swept the series. the only area we are even close is at forward and even there they have far better balance. hell the wings dont have a single top 6 winger! it is remarkable that the wings even made the playoffs with the defence we have. a few years ago our top 4 was lidstrom, rafalski, stuart and kronwall; now it is kronwall, dekeyser, ericsson and smith. that is just depressing! -
well the hawks struggled to score against the wings so of course an LA team which has a better, more experienced D and the best goalie in the world has a massive chance. it will also be interesting to see how the hawks cope against a much bigger and more physical team over 7 games. i actually make the kings favourites in that series. i also think the bruins-pens series is pretty even

good signing by holland and a great price too. white is not as good as a healthy rafalski, but he is much better than the rafalski that we saw in this year's playoffs. now if the wings could just manage to shift hudler, they would have the space (and plenty of $$) for the top 6 forward they need.

i can't believe how useless he was. i have come to accept the fact that he will struggle defensively but he is usually a key offensive weapon, especially on the PP. but in this series (IIRC) he had zero points!!! for an offensive defenseman that is inexplicable and at 6m per year he has to be the worst value for money player in the league.

twas a great effort but i can't help but thinking that if the wings had not completely given up on the regular season after the all star break and thus surrendered home ice, that this would have turned out very differently

agreed. the wings were always in control of the series in 09 until the 7th game but against the sharks we never really looked like winning
-
cannot understand that either. modano showed more in 1 game that hudler has all series
-
agreed. really missed franzen and cleary in that 3rd. there just weren't enough goal scorers out there - other than dats and z i just could not see what other forward would score
-
a valiant effort but it was just 1 comeback too far. the late season coasting that allowed the sharks to steal 2nd place is looking very costly right now

with they way the wings have played with the extra skater tonight, it might be better not to pull howard!!
