I would assume once July 1st hits he wouldn't have to clear waivers if his contract is indeed toll'd But no one, or at least not very many people thought a cellar dweller with a true number one goalie would pick him off waivers.

Flip happies try that excuse with Filppula all the time and it never flies Mursak is a lock for next years roster, and I think Emmerton could win out a spot either in training camp or preseason.

That's why he should come over to North America, we have the best strength and conditioning in the world. Plus, what better way to develop defensive awareness than playing the the Red Wings system ;p

With the way helm is stepping up offensively, i would love to see Mursak turn out exactly like Helm, but the reality is, Mursak has a bit of a better chance to be better offensively. I say a bit better because in the NHL is a completely different beast than the AHL and Helm has shown to be able to create the offensive chances in the NHL and Mursak hasn't been giving the opportunity yet to do so.

Mursak looked awesome on the line with Franzen and Zata. He would have had a couple points last night if Franzen could finish more than 1 of 10 chances.

Will he be an RFA or UFA after next season? If he'll be an RFA, then this signing makes sense, if not, then I don't get this signing at all.

Look what it did for Franzen.

It's funny, whenever Filppula is giving more responsibility, he flourishes. A guy who can put up 50-60 points and play top 20 defense as a forward IS a second line center no matter how much you don't want him to be. People have this misconception that your second line center needs to be a Malkin, when in reality the majority of them put up 35-60 points and don't play nearly as awesome defense as Filppula plays. Don't forget, Filppula on a generous amount of occasions, shadows a teams first line so Datsyuk and Zetterberg can go against a teams 2nd or 3rd lines. This game Filppula was matched up with Kovy's line.

Who was the Rangers GM just recently who signed Gomez, Drury, Redden etc to massive terrible contracts? It was very stupid because he just took another step towards gaining favoritism with players in the NHL. Not to mention half the leagues agent by doing this. it was very very very stupid.
