Hell no to Kovalev. This isn't NHL 11 where you can control him, and even then he doesn't skate all the time.
-
Lol. Well played. The coach never made the remarks towards the player. The player was never called anything. How does one even compare this to the Holocaust? That's quite the leap. And I'm guessing the kid sucking (in regards to being a pro) well before he even came to the Ducks has everything to do with the kid not advancing and nothing to do with him being Jewish. So you are in favor of suing someone for anti-semitic remarks in regards to stereotypes. Not even directed at you? For the amount of black players that have been in the NHL or in minor league hockey, i've never heard of one suing a coach like this and I am willing to bet the farm they hear a lot worst than this kid.

I don't get why you're quoting me... Is that you saying you agree with me about Drake being of a dying breed in the NHL?
-
You're missing the point of what I'm saying. If i felt I was being belittled in any way, and that person who belittled me apologized and said he was wrong, the issue would be dead there. Your last two sentences are huge assumptions and would be treated as such and wouldn't be able to be proven in court. The kid sucked. he was terrible in college, terrible as an over-ager in the CHL and he is/was terrible as a pro. That's why he was in the ECHL and traded.

That's absurd. There are no Islander fans.

I guess I have thicker skin than most. I don't condone what the coach said, but I also don't condone filing a lawsuit against him. If I caught my boss making bigoted remarks towards my heritage, and I told our HR dept aka his wife, and he personally apologized and said his actions were wrong, the whole matter would die there.

I appreciate your red herring, but if a lot of money wasn't spent on my teeth to have them be perfectly straight, then maybe i would punch myself in the mouth. I said the use of the profane words were wrong. Maybe you should punch yourself in the mouth for all your fallacies in your post. We obviously all have our opinions. We've all been in rooms were someone was being completely an utterly ignorant and incredibly bigoted, but I've never walked up to the person and told them i was going to sue them. If I heard someone ripping on the Irish, and I went up to them and told them to stop and apologize and they did, i certaintly wouldn't sue them later.

Oh thank God for Red Wing hockey! It'll stop the fallacy that is the enforcer debates for an hour or two!!!

Just from reading the article, none of the language was directed at the kid, it was just said in his presence, which is still bad, but not something you sue someone over. I'm 100% positive if anyone called Iginla a n*gger, regardless if it was his coach or manager, he'd punch them in the mouth. The black and European players were called way worst things when they were breaking into the league, and that stuff was directed at and to them. Plus, while playing sports, whenever a coach was mad at me or my play or if I did something stupid I heard all kinds of Irish slurs. Never got to me. "Too much spuds last night Kelly?", "Damn it Kelly, you're a Mick, hit someone like they stole your potato farm". Grow some skin.

Don't forget, the coaches in question, apologized as soon as bailey complained: Also, form reading the article, the coach(s) never directed the remarks towards Bailey.

The Wings would come off as robbers in that deal. I also don't think he'll be fighting as much since he has now learned you can break your hand by punching someones skull lol.
-
We also need him to fill the minority quota since Lilja left. Stewart is a hell of a player, he plays the white way....right way.

This thread makes me sad, time to go:
-
Yes. Yes it was. He is my pipe dream. He's going to be the Milan Lucic that everyone thinks Milan Lucic is. The only reason i don't want Raffi Torres is because he is a huge ****** and had a propensity for taking out Red Wings
-
Selanne and Karyia didn't have a problem doing that before.

Wouldn't it be more beneficial to have a stay at home D-Man who hits hard and willing to fight since they play a lot more minutes as a third pairing DMan than would a 4th liner? I think we should turn our attention to Defense, rather than Offense. What do we do with Mursak and Emmerton? Bundle them at the trade deadline?

Drake averaged darn near a .5 PPG over his 1000 game career. Your list of players is full of guys who may be lucky to put up 20 points on a consistent basis, let alone 35-40 that Drake did. Like I've said in other threads. On the fouth line, i'll take a guy who can put up 10 goals and 10 assists and hits hard and fights over a Miller type player, as long as they make the same amount of money. I like Neil, but I liked first two seasons with Ottawa Neil more where he showed more offence. I'd take Miller at 650K and his 20 points over Neil at 2mil for his 20 points. In the other threads I've said I'd love Prust here, but only because the previous seasons he showed no offensive abilities whatsoever and is now finding his grove after being in a stable relationship with a team for once. Of your list you threw out, there are guys I'd take over Miller, but there also guys I just laughed at. Also, on your list, you have guys that are paid quite well, and I'm strictly talking about 4th liners being paid 4th line money ala Miller. As well, some players you listed are having career years, or at least on pace for careers. I'm not against physical players. Miller is highly replaceable, as long as their pay is roughly the same and their offence is roughly on par.
-
Read my response on page one. I couldn't say yes because of the list of players. The only one I'd like is Prust because he finally started playing well last year.

I was hoping that it was going to be a giant Eggo Waffle.

That's my point too. Would you rather spend 2mil on a guy who will fight and put up 20 points, or a guy who will bag 20 goals and 20 assists? For me personally, it's the latter. I'd take a guy who fights, regularly puts up 20 points +/- 5 and makes 1mil +/- .5mil all day long for the fourth line. But I'll pass on the guy who regularly puts up 10 points and fights over the guy who will score 10 goals and add 10 assists.

Secret or not, no one is a Leafs' fans. Well at least Ken Daneyko agrees with me, that's good enough for me.

My post concerned the poll and your comment in this thread. You have a list of players in the poll, one of which is good while they two others aren't. i think it's highly relevant to mention as I defended my poll pick. And last year was an anomaly for Rupp, it was his first year in 8 years that he had over 9 points.
-
This poll is terrible. Prust is the only guy that can actually play hockey. The other two are garbage. If the poll was "Would Prust be a welcome addition to this team", I would have said yes. But you have two pylons. 2/3 are pylons so I was forced to say no. Prust would look good in a Winged wheel, as he actually has talents and is really starting to come into his own since last season. Neil and Prust ar emuch much better players than Konopka and Rupp. That's like saying would you trade Helm for a player like Eaves/Miller/Filppula/Franzen? There is such a huge discrepancy in skill and point production.
