    No Scrimmage at Saturday's Training Camp

    Detroit Red Wings Training Camp Cards for Brad McCrimmon's family may be dropped off at Centre ICE Arena today (Wednesday) from 2:30 - 7:00 pm or on Saturday morning from 7:00 -9:00 a.m. We will be sure the cards are sent with DRW to the funeral. No stuffed animals or flowers, please, just cards. If you are not from the Traverse City area, you may send a sympathy card through the funeral home's website, www.heeney-sundquist

    Detroit Red Wings Training Camp Good morning! We are still waiting on the final revised schedule for Saturday's events. We can confirm on-ice practice starts at 7:05 am. Your ticket for Saturday will also be accepted for admission to either Wednesday, 9/21/11 or Thursday, 9/22/2011 morning skates. This schedule change is due to the team's attendance of Brad McCrimmon's funeral Saturday. Centre Ice Arena www.centreice.org

    The Red Wings posted a lineup of players who will be taking part in their “Hockeyfest” event at Joe Louis Arena on September 10th via Twitter, and let’s just say that the list of participants taking part in Q and A’s or autograph sessions is impressive: Players at Hockeyfest on 9/10 include Lidstrom, Bertuzzi, Holmstrom, Miller, Abdelkader, Eaves, Zetterberg, Cleary, Howard and Kindl. ... Nick, Bert, Holmstrom, Miller, Abby + Eaves will be on hand from 11:30-2:30. Hank, Cleary, Howard + Kindl will show from 2:30-5:30.

    Osgood on LTIR

    Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood has suffered another setback in his attempt to return from sports hernia surgery on Jan. 11, as the club today placed him on long-term injured reserve, retroactive to last week.     2011 Training Camp

    The daily schedule remains the same as years past. The practice/scrimmage sessons usually start at 9:30 and the Red and White Game will be at Noon again this year. These times are subject to change a bit as the DRW tweak their schedules.

Lombardi: “We took our best shot to meet his needs and the team’s.” added 6:09pm, via Helene Elliott of the Fabulous Forum, Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi said Sunday afternoon that the high-scoring free agent decided against joining the Kings, who had targeted him as the productive winger they urgently need and a marquee player who might generate some buzz around town. “We took our best shot to meet his needs and the team’s,” Lombardi said in an email. He would not elaborate on where the Kings’ offer fell short or where Kovalchuk might be headed.

Lang, a former Phoenix RoadRunner, spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens, where he tallied 18 goals and 39 points in 50 games. The year prior, he scored 21 goals for the Chicago Blackhawks. He has also played for Detroit, Washington, Pittsburgh, Boston and Los Angeles in his 17-year career.
