My trade deadline grade for Mr. Kenneth H. Holland.

F- this is horrible. we need willy back...and we need our draft picks. kyle was like -7000...he gets on the ice, the other team scores. and berts disc's in his back are all gonna fall out and he'll fall to the ice like a jelly fish...either that or he'll break someones neck and get booted from the nhl. no...the only way we win the cup is by acquiiring martin lapointe, mathieu dandenault, sean avery, darren mccarty, aaron ward, boyd devereaux, sergei fedorov, slava kozlov, brendan shanahan, manny legace, curtis joseph, ray whitney, mark mowers, jamie rivers, derrian hatcher...we gotta bring the old crew back...

Bertuzzi to be on WXYT 1270 at 5:30pm

Here are the most recent updates on Bertuzzi's back situation. Like I said above, Holland expects Bertuzzi to be in the lineup by the end of March...maybe middle of March... 2/23/2007 Bertuzzi (back) will not play before Tuesday's trade deadline, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Bertuzzi is practicing again, but is still not ready to get back into games. He is one of the bigger names on the market for the trade deadline. 2/20/2007 Bertuzzi (back surgery) practiced with the team on Monday, but will not travel to Tampa for the Panthers' game against the Lightning on Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald. Bertuzzi's situation is still unstable. "As we know it has gone up and down, and right now it's on a positive side," Panthers assistant coach Guy Charron said. "So, hopefully there is no setback and he can continue and improve." 2/17/2007 Bertuzzi (back surgery) has not practiced with the Panthers in more than a week, meaning a return to the lineup within the next week is not probable, according to the Miami Herald reports. Bertuzzi's back tightened up during the flights involved with the Panthers' last road trip, which has led to toned down activity since. He continues to indicate there will be little fanfare immediately before his return and that he'll just jump on the ice. Still, we don't see that happening particularly soon. 2/14/2007 Bertuzzi (back surgery) has suffered a setback and will not be ready for Saturday's game, according to the Palm Beach Post. The new target date for his return is Tuesday. Florida coach Jacques Martin said the setback is both minor and normal and shouldn't cause any alarm. 2/13/2007 Bertuzzi (back surgery) did not travel with the team for its two-game road trip, according to the Miami Herald. This means Bertuzzi is out until at least Saturday, which was the last confirmed target date for his return anyway. Coach Jacques Martin said Bertuzzi will "get therapy and hopefully do some skating" in the meantime. 2/10/2007 Bertuzzi (back) may not be able to return to action before the Feb. 27 NHL trade deadline, TSN.ca reports. The Panthers have been hopeful that he'd be able to return late next week, which would ultimately raise his trade value as an opportunity for Florida to showcase Bertuzzi for any potential suitors. We'll continue to track his availability. 2/6/2007 Bertuzzi (back surgery) had his first full workout with the Panthers on Monday and is targeting a return on February 17th at home against Tampa Bay, The Palm Beach Post reports. Make sure you have Bertuzzi reserved until he actually plays a game for Panthers. It may take him awhile to get going again since he has been out for such an extended period of time.

Bertuzzi to be on WXYT 1270 at 5:30pm

during one of the commercial breaks on 1130WDFN, the update guy (i think it was derry) said that holland expects bertuzzi to be in the lineup by the end of march. so i guess that puts him at about 4 weeks away? that's not so bad...

2006 World Series: Tigers & Cardinals

kenny has bowel problems. he doesn't like to talk about it, but he suffers from chronic diarrhea. his condition is exacerbated by stress. these days, he suffers from it most severely before his starts. so he jets to the bathroom and takes a runny dump right before he takes the mound. and here lies the problem. he may be a left handed pitcher...but he's a right handed wiper!!! however...the runs hit him so fast that he had left his catching glove on his right hand and had to wipe with his left. and, as we all know, kenny doesn't wash his hands after using the bathroom. clearly, left handed ass wiping doesn't work so well for kenny. but you gotta do what you gotta do. now if it's a crime to pitch with some poo on your hand, then convict him! but i say poo is kosher!!!!!

    Detroit Pistons off-season thread

I've been listening to a LOT of radio and internet analysis from "experts", announcers, radio hosts, and writers. Here's the gist of what I've heard. I happen to agree with it all... Here goes... Sign Ben Wallace to no more than 4-5 years...and no more than $8-$10 million per year. Ben Wallace was exposed as a liability, he's getting old, he's going down hill...no part of his game will improve, only get worse. The only way the Pistons sign Ben to a bigger deal is if they line up a sign and trade. The Pistons should entertain ALL trade offers. The ONLY semi-untouchable is Tayshaun Prince. Billups, Rip, Ben, Sheed, Dice, and everyone else are all very available for the right price. Speaking of Billups...there are lots of questions surrounding his performance. He was terrible. Why? Was it because he wore down? Or is he on his down slide? Physical combo guards like Billups generally tank their career suddenly and without any warning. And it tends to happen right around Billups' age. Speculation and fear is that Billups is done. Hope is that he was just tired. Do we wait to find out? Or do we cut bait and not take chances? Many people were upset and/or disappointed with Sheeds' performance. He was terrible. But here's the problem...there really are VERY few superior 4's or 5's than Sheed. We're literally talking maybe half a dozen bigs in the league better than Sheed. So fans can ***** about Sheed all they want...but they should feel lucky to have him. The ONLY way you get rid of Sheed is if you can get a KG or one of the few bigs better than Sheed. Joe D and many fans and writers were disappointed that the Pistons used such a short bench. Basically, it was a six man team. Teams like Dallas, Miami, and San Antonio go much deeper on their bench...and it's not just during the regular season, they use their bench during the playoffs too. Joe D was particularly disappointed that Flip didn't use Carlos Delfino more...many feel the same way...kid has skills at both ends of the court...might be our ONLY player than can really drive to the basket with skill and authority. Joe D has said he wants to run with a 8-9 man team...not a 6 man team. Odds are, the most dramatic changes will be to our bench. Pistons need a guy than can break down the defense. They have NO guys that can single handedly take charge and break down an entire defense. Like a Allen Iverson or a Dwayne Wade or what have you. We need that guy. We probably can't get a first rate player like that...but maybe a guy off the bench than can break defense down to keep them on their toes and keep them honest...like a Speedy Claxton or Bonzi Wells.

    Detroit Lions off-season thread

pitt had one of the top offensive lines in the NFL...their rushing attack was at or near the top of the NFL...hines ward had already quietly become a top 5 reciever in the NFL...in combination with burress and randel el, they had arguable the best group of recievers in the NFL. the offensive line, running game, and recievers with known proven top notch all star commodities. and they had good coaches. qb success was not hard to come by on that team. contrast that with the lions...terrible coaching and front office...among the worst offensive lines in the league...among the worst rushing attacks in the league...unproven, overrated, rookie/inexperienced wide recievers. qb success was almost impossible...

    Detroit Lions off-season thread

Kitna...interesting. In my mind, Kitna and Harrington are the same level of ability. And Kitna has publicly said he will only go to a team where he can start (or will have the chance to beat out whoevers there). I wonder...if that means Harrington will be let go???? The Bradford signing is interesting too. Bradford is a guy with decent size and great speed. If he had better hands, better route running ability, and the guts to go through the middle...he'd be a star. (Huh...sounds like Rogers and Roy, don't it?) Bradford is just a guy to keep teams honest...he'll run deep routes and beat man coverage with his speed. But he'll drop most of them passes. I think he's around to push our 3 young WR's...and might stick around as a backup. He MIGHT beat out Rogers...that all depends on Rogers, really... RW was solid...losing him sucks a little. Losing Kyle Kosier is not a great loss...but we ain't been picking up any OL's yet...so that's not good. Signing Kalimba's...not bad, not good...he's a spot pass rusher, that's all. Signing Drummond is a good move. I think we lost Andre Goodman too...his loss probably won't be missed though. Interesting, interesting... We need a LB and a couple OL...fo sho...

    Lions sticking with Harrington

Listened to the radio this morning... I'm prophetic. A mere couple days after I posted on here about the OL, everyone on the radio is clamoring about the OL. The radio hosts and the callers all morning are starting to think that OL should be the number one priority. Even Joey haters were calling in saying that it doesn't matter even the tiniest bit who we get at QB if the OL remains the same. Remember Peyton Manning against PItt in the playoffs? At times during that game, his line started to break down...they started looking like the Lion's OL...is it any wonder that Manning couldn't do anything during those stretches? Is it any wonder that he BLASTED his offensive line in public, to the press? You know how Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck looked so good? It's no coincidence that Seattle has one of the best left sides in the NFL in a long time. OL, people...OL. You take care of the OL, your offensive will succeed no matter what. You ignore the OL, not even Peyton Manning can get things done. PERIOD. It all starts and ends with protection and blocking...

    No Thanksgiving Day Game?

YOU'VE ALL BEEN HAD! WDFN and Sean Baligian were pulling a prank. There is no proposal or plan to get rid of the Lion's Thanksgiving day game in exchange for a Superbowl every seven years. Baligian was just seeing how easy it would be to start a bogus rumor.

    Lions sticking with Harrington

i'm just as concerned about or WR's and OL as i am with QB. if our OL and WR played like they did last year...i really don't see anyone, be it brees/kitna/harrington, having any success...our offense will be just as ineffective, except with a different system (ie non-westcoast)... on the other hand, if we can get our OL and blocking schemes in order, and if we can get our WR's to not suck...then, fudge, anyone can succeed at qb. i mean...look at hasselbeck...he's merely above average talent...but he has a good line, solid WR's, and stud RB. most of the teams in the league have QB's that are merely above average to average talent...but most of them have more success running their offense because just about every single team is getting better play from their OL and WR and RB...and they got their run and pass blocking in better order than we do... martz said in his interview when he first joined the team that OL is the heart of any offense. if they do their job, you'll have success...period. if they don't, you'll struggle...period. from the offensive genius himself...

    Lions sticking with Harrington

all sorts of rumors flying around about our qb situation now. brees may be coming...or else kitna may be coming...the joey endorsements by the staff were a smoke screen...joey will be cut...joey won't be cut but he won't start...lewand was BS-ing Parker when he said he woudn't restructure joey's contract, cuz now they'll ask him to...joey will accept...joey won't accept and just get cut... it's crazy...no one knows what's going on...

    Detroit Pistons Season Thread

I'm still slightly concerned...I mean, the Spurs and Mavs are a mere 1.5 games behind us. And look us compared to the other top teams the last 20 games...we don't look any more dominant than the other top teams... Detroit 14-6 Dallas 18-2 San Antonio 17-3 Phoenix 16-4 Miami 15-5 I hope we pick it up before the playoffs. I want to see us going into the playoffs playing at our best...
