Hossa's agent hints about contract possibilities

    Ya know... what's stopping Hossa from getting the 6 million per season for the next 4 seasons... then drop to 4 million for 2 and 1 million for 2? 6 - 6 - 6 - 6 - 4 - 4 - 1 - 1 Thats a 4.25 million dollar cap hit... and he gets the 6 million for 4 seasons! Can Hossa do that for the D?

Johan Franzen signs extension, 11 years

Yeah... just doing my ceremonial "check all the important sites before I go AFK" drill... and first thing that pops up on tsn.ca/nhl is Franzen's big bearded mug... and I'm just like "Wait... better go check LGW to be absolutely sure this is legit!" LoL I'd love to see some other confirmation (despite tsn being very good with this sort of stuff)... so if anyone finds another link, I'll be glad to edit my first post so that newcomers to the thread can read everything right away!

    Ovechkin Commercial

This. This. ("Like it or lump it"? I've heard better trash talk from 8 year olds. Did Crosby seriously just graduate from the second grade?) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Convinced yet?

Alright... I can't take these ridiculous threads I've only... I think both sides of this argument have merit, but both sides are so bull-headed, they can't listen to one another. Good grief! Ok. When we won the Stanley Cup last year, we had serious grinders (not enforcers) playing in the playoffs. These guys played tough, too... Drake, McCarty, Helm (especially)... these guys were slamming and banging up and down the ice. They added a tenacity that we aren't seeing this year. I don't care how many goals you score, if you don't have these people in the lineup, you are going to look flat (see Wings '09 9 times out of 10... there have been exceptions). HOWEVER! In the playoffs, you can use your... black aces, I believe they're called? Someone that is more knowledgable about the lingo can correct me if I'm wrong. The way it works (or so I understand) is that you can sub in your reserves without worrying about people claiming them off of the waiver wire. WE WILL DO THIS IN THE PLAYOFFS! Helm will be up... maybe even Leino will be up... I'd imagine McCarty or Downey (who hasn't won the Cup while playing... I don't think he played a single playoff game last year, despite earning a ring)... send Draper and Kopecky and Malts down and bring'em up... everything will be fine. Deep breaths, folks. Deep breaths.

    The Vote is on Thursday.

Call me crazy... but I'd rather we have another year-long lockout than keep the system we're in right now. The new CBA is killing teams like Phoenix, denying them a slice of the pie because they can't hit numbers, and teams like Detroit are going to be loosing homegrown talent because the cap is going to shrink. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I'll have to dig into my closet for my "No Hockey League - What the Puck?" shirt, methinks.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

    A) HOLY CRAP THIS IS EPIC. :scared: :scared: B) Somebody asked about draft pick compensation for RFAs... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=241735 If Flip will only sign for something crazygonutz to leave detroit, like 5.5 (realistically, if someone offered you that, wouldn't you take it? LoL) then the wings would get 2 first rounders 1 second and 1 third. ... What could the wings possibly do with those?!?!

How does standing room work @ the Joe?

Ok... so I managed to grab a couple of standing room tickets for game 2 (holy crap, I feel like I won the lotto, considering we're displaced Detroiters in Pittsburgh! Go Wings, baby!!!). Our tickets are Row 6 seats 9 and 10. So my question is this: how does this stuff work??? Does this mean we're 6 rows back in standing room? (Not that I'd care one bit... PARTY IN THE STANDING ROOM!) ...or does this mean that it's behind section 6 or something?

SCF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 2, Penguins 1

I'd wait till morning, but tsn.ca/nhl always has the entire postgame interview in their media player (albeit chopped up). If you can wait till the AM, I hope this helps.

    Octopus Tonight?

...if they can find a place that will sell one to them, yes. Unfortunately, the waterfront seafood shops stopped selling octopi to Detroiters about a week ago (supposedly checking drivers licenses... what a bunch of ****** canoes : P). If they had the foresight to bring one from Hockeytown, then yes... if they were expecting to get one here, then I don't think. : (

Standing Room tickets still available for Game 2

THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE!!!! My family and I are relocated detroiters stuck in the endless void of southwestern PA (about the same distance from Pittsburgh that we were to Detroit in Michigan... about 30 minutes)... and I was looking at work last Tuesday at tickets for me and my pop to go to game 1 at around 2 in the afternoon. Smooth sailing... lots of tickets... got home at around 4... SOLD OUT. I was devistated! : ( Buuuuuut when you mentioned standing room still available, I jumped on and now were going!!! I am SOOOOO EXCITED! My folks have been to a few games, but they never took me... so this'll be my FIRST wings game at the Joe! AND it's game 2 of the SCF!!! Work and Summer college semester on Tuesday be damned!!! So to end my post... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hasek threads

Please. Letting in an extra goal after getting scored on and not standing the opposition up when your team needs you most is unacceptable in this age of parity. Give Ozzie a shot.
  14. Joey Kocur or Marty Lapointe would be SO AWESOME right now. They would both add that crazy in-your-face physical play that we only have Downey for right now AND they could score timely goals. Besides... I really miss them. ~goes to watch his Red Wing DvDs~

    Hasek Challenges, Gaborik goes Airborn

OMG! The kids are doing it now, too! QQ QQ! ...j/k This whole thing has blown out of proportion. It happened, Hasek was assessed a 2 minute minor, he still got the shutout, Gabby didn't get hurt, it'll be on highlight reels and NHL-related commercials for the next year or so (maybe more). Hey, at the very least it'll be nice seeing the winged wheel on the commercials instead of whiny Crosby. I could always post some videos of people getting clobbered by checks that looked WAY worse than this. The bottom line is that it wasn't intent to injure... and even if it went to the board that delegates long-term suspensions, this would be his first infraction and they would be giving him a slap on the wrist. NHL Brass ~ "Bad Hasek... VERY BAD! no more coming out of your net!" Hasek ~ "I can't skate anyway! This is a win-win situation!" Seriously guys... That's like a cross-section of the meeting right there! I'm just saying this play isn't unheard of, and MOST of the time, SMART players who have their heads up will DEKE AROUND the goalie that comes that far out of the net. Gabby was just thinking about how he would be the only Wild player to get any screen time on "Hockey Replay Show X" (because network stations always want to be unbiased, so they show at least 1 goal from each team, unless there's a shutout) and didn't have his head in the game. He probably also assumed the goal was in the bag because Hasek isn't getting any younger and has lost a lot of his "slinky-spine" moves. Bottom line... chill out, folks. We're all Wings fans here (well, except for some stray duck, shark and pred dudes...) so let's just relish in the fact that both our goalies are looking stellar right now. ...I'm gonna go back to lurking in the corner now...

    Center Ice

I've been using NHL Center Ice for at least four years now and I can honestly tell you for a person stuck in southwestern Pennsylvania (displaced from Detroit) that regardless of the HD quality of the video, Center Ice is a Godsend for a hockey depleted area. Nobody here knows anything about hockey, it gets 0% attention (even with Sid the Crybaby here), and it's simply a joke. When we got Center Ice, it was like opening Christmas presents for an entire hockey season. That being said, however, I do not believe the games are always offered in HD. In fact, I don't think they are offered at all in HD. I personally have two HD tvs and have watched Wings games on NBCHD and personally if anything, it's harder to follow all the action when pumped out in HD. The other issue is that it is a total roll of the dice if you're gonna see the Mickey feed from FSN Detroit or if you're gonna see some other team's feed. Normally it follows along with whoever has home ice...but that isn't always the case. Anyway...hope my bantering has assisted you if even a little bit.
