2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
Z Winged Dangler replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I want nothing to do with Vanek. He's a Franzen like disappearing act. He actually floats more than Mule. -

My quote button doesn't work. Any suggestions? -

The big names are few and far between. I'd almost rather trade for Myers than massively overpay for Niskanen at this point. -

So every other team is signing UFA's and we're signing our RFA's that could have been cleaned up a week or 2 ago...? Sent from Holland's blackberry from a golf course 2000 miles from Detroit. I don't want to see stupid overpayments or a sad sack signing like Jovocop, but for the love of god do something relevant to July 1st GM wise. -
Wasn't Hasek their goalie in 2006 when they lost the SCF to the Ducks? As far as acquiring Spezza goes, with his back in question apparently, I would want them to take a ? back in the trade in Franzen. I'd offer them Franzen, Kindl and our 2015 1st. And there's no way we can get Ryan unless we want to lose Smith, Nyquist or Tatar and Sproul or Ouellet. Ryan's value is higher than Spezza's at the moment.

That's how you form good working relationships with other teams GM's. Sometimes you gotta do another team a favor to ultimately get what you needed in the first place and not necessarily help a team that you don't like, or are a rival with. Example, Yzerman buys out Gagner and he signs with Florida or Washington. -

Off the top of my head, they have Brett Connolly and Jonathan Drouin at forward who should be good players. Not sure on who else they have, but those guys could be top 6. -
I'd be a lot more comfortable with 7 at 35 million. In a different offseason, he'd get no more than that. Not to mention that more Dmen are hitting the market so there's not quite as much supply and demand, even if he is the best RH Dman on the market right now. I'd offer Boyle 2 years at 7.5 mil and wait for Sproul to QB our PP.

If he needs work on his skating, he's a true Holmstrom! Even if there's no relation. -

The only other thing I'd like to see this draft is for Kindl and Andersson to be traded so we can draft 4 guys in the 7th round -

Oh darn, a 6'5 LW.... He's way too big And he got 39 points in 33 games last season. We haven't seen a draft pick under 6'0 in almost 2 drafts. -

I'm not really seeing a downside to drafting big centres at all. Most of our guys that play centre can play wing as well so it's nice to have the versatility. -
Claude Noel was a terrible coach, injuries, Pavelec and no real identity in the bottom 6. The main pieces are there aside from goaltending and solidarity in the bottom 6. I'd take Ladd and Wheeler at F and Bogo from D. No thanks on Kane. Babs would hate him and no way the Jets trade Trouba or I'd take him in a heartbeat and pay lots for him. Swith Kesler with Moulson qnd I'm in. If the Wings could get O'Reilly I'd s*** rainbows!

Avalanche are taking Ryan O'Reilly to club-selected arbitration

Hopefully he departs to an old rival. -
If the Wings show enough loyalty to sign Danny ******* Cleary....Z is a lifetime Wing end of story. You don't trade guys like that anyways.

Most of the Canadian teams in the NHL need to do a much better job building around the stars in their top 6. Preferably before they lose said star player. Ottawa at one point had a deadly top 6.
-
I used that example because of the amount of people in the area and the fact that Spezza wants out of Ottawa because he can't even buy groceries without getting blasted by fans and the fact that I strongly believe that wouldn't happen in Winnipeg. That's my argument for Winnipeg not being on the 10 team list.
-
Winnipeg treats their players great. When I was living there up until about 7 months ago I'd seen Jets players in public and they don't even get bothered at all. Andrew Ladd likes Pretzelmaker... everyone let the guy wander the mall and enjoy the hell out of that pretzel and he's the captain.
-
Bringing in Brodeur as a back up would be the best goalie coach Howard will ever get. He may even learn how to play the puck...

12-14 they couldn't do too much more with an underpowered platform. 15 they have no excuses for the game to not be epic. Hopefully they deliver on the features they put on the EA NHL site.
