Sorry, Eva, but Hudler will never be a center on the Red Wings. But I agree for the most part with the rest of your post.

I'm not saying that we should do either, but really the only way to chance anything would be to trade Hudler or Cleary. Hudler still needs some time I think to get re-accustomed to NA hockey and they all need time to gel anyway. I'm not worried. I think Modano looked real good out there last night and Hudler has seemed to look better these past few games.

Great game. Just what we needed. Howard is awesome, maybe better than last season and the second line is amazing.

I have to say it, but Flip better get an assist on that.

Unless Holland considers trading Cleary/Hudler, I don't think we have much of a choice.

I know it's early in the season, but I think this game will say a lot about the Wings this season. The past two seasons there was alot of things said like "It's only the ___ game", but throughout the season nothing really changed. If the Wings don't get up for this game and play the Coyotes really hard (because you know they'll play us hard) then my high hopes for this season will drop. They don't need to win, but they need to show a damn good effort. Go Wings. I feel the same but Babs obviously doesn't want to break up the third line so they can get some chemistry going together. Plus Fil and Miller played a good amount last year and did well so maybe they can make some things happen.

Especially after how many people agreed with the move.

Which reminds me, I'd like to double the Wings game tomorrow.

Last game was Hudler's only good game so far. He looked pretty good last night. Really? Is wasn't Bertuzzi's pass? It wasn't that pass that made it 15 feet through a few defensemen and a goalie, it was the pass that made it though nothing and 5 feet away? It was a smart play, but it was hardly "the reason". I wouldn't even be saying that about Filppula.

Do you possess no concept of that fact that players are affected by their linemates? Obviously god's gift to hockey Hudler could score 600 points if he was 2 inches taller while playing with a pair of sandles, but with other, lesser players, their linemates play a large part in their success. Filppula will have a better year playing with Franzen (and Filppula will also help Franzen to be better, as evidence of 2 of 3 of Franzen's goals this year) than he would playing with Cleary or Miller. And yes, Bertuzzi is not brand new for him, but last year he spent a large amount of time with Miller, Cleary, Williams and Leino last year yet still was on a pace to score 50 points.
