Dude....they aren't going to sign anyone for another two or three weeks anyway. You're obviously underestimating how valuable he'd be for us on the third line.

+3.26 in cap space. -1.25 for Modano -0.85 for Adbs -0.95 for Helm -1.00 for 6th D +0.50 from trading/waiving Meech +0.65 from trading/waiving Miller =0.36m in space. If we sign Modano and resign Lilja, I think this would be a great off season for the cap room we're dealing with.

I'm guess that he's going to be a training camp and can win a spot, but I just thought I would bring it up here as no one ever talks about Tatar being full time next season. I think it's pretty likely, especially if Modano doesn't sign.

If any player is put on LTIR, regardless of how long he is gone, his full salary hit comes on the books when he returns, not just a percentage.So it wouldn't really have an effect on what we could do for the deadline, unless he's on LTIR until the playoffs start, at which we can go any amount over the cap.

I think the central will be ours no doubt, and if we sign Modano I think we're almost a shoe in for the best record in the West too (and if we don't sign Modano, we'll still be fighting for it).

I just can't imagine Modano not singing here. 1.25m can't be much less than what he's being offered elsewhere, plus, and of course I'm not in his position, but he must have grown up being a Wings fan and it seems like such a great end to his career to finish off in Detroit. I really think it's still Detroit or retire. That was always only speculation.

By "some time" you mean about 14% of the time he was with Hossa, right? If he played that whole year with Hossa he probably would have scored 60 points at least.

Please, Eva, realize that there is a difference between the lines you dream of and those that actually would have a shot at happening. Modanos decision will not affect anything the wings are doing. Holland has said so himself. He could take another 3 weeks to decide and nothing would change. No decisions are being held back by waiting for Modano. How can I put this in a way for you to understand? Comparing this to Favre or Niedermayer is beyond ridiculous. That's pure speculation. We have no idea what Modano is thinking. If we trade/waive Miller & Meech, Helm/Abds resign at $950k/$850k, sign Modano at $1 million and someone on defense for $1 million, we'll have about $550k in space. But doesn't it make you wish Lidstrom, Holmstrom and Bertuzzi would have taken just a little bit less?

Keep in mind he still hasn't chosen, but I'd be very disappointed to see him go somewhere else. I hope Kenny is offering him at least 1 million.

I don't think Modano is some sort of god or anything (though I do think it's a great signing, and Holland agrees with me) and I won't kill myself if he doesn't sign, but some people here are just acting ridiculous...

What decisions are being held back by waiting for Modano? It's not like last summer when we had no idea what was going to happen with 3 million of our cap space while we waited for Hudler which let Sammy slip through the cracks. Kenny still needs to sign Helm and Abdelkader, a defense spot and one likely forward. This is only affecting the forward spot, which Kenny would otherwise probably wait another month to fill. It's not like it's been a month since we've talked to Modano, it's been one week. We'll probably hear something from this week if not today, have some patience.
