Wasn't I reading that Filppula was only good for 40-50 points from you a summer ago? Edit: Now it seems that thinking he won't easily break 50 points is insane.

Filppula's ES PPM went down .002 Points per minute. Big deal. However his linemates, overall, were worse last year than the year before, actually. To finish out the season he played with Z and Bert yes, but before that he was playing with 3rd/4th liners. Don't take my word for this. 09-10 Linemates 08-09 Linemates Overall PPM is irrelevant because Hudler had such a huge amount in PP time compared to Filppula. The only way to compare PPM is at even strength. You can't talk about PP PPM because Filppula only had 60 minutes on the PP in 0809 (versus Hudler's 250). You can't gauge anything from that. This isn't a pissing contest, Eva. Past seasons don't matter to the present. It doesn't matter that in "other years, Filppula played more than Hudler and scored less". Other years being 06-07 and 07-08. 3 and 4 years ago. We (I, anyway) only go back to 08-09 because it's the last comparison we have. Players all improve at grow and different rates. His first 11 games he scored 6 points with scrubs Leino (okay, Leino was a then-scrub) and Williams on the third line. Can't expect much from that. And from the last 9 games he went on a random cold streak. Notice what I'm saying here. The 33 games was not a hot streak. Any streak was the cold streak he had was when he had 1 point in 9 games to finish the season.

When was the last time Hudler has 8 points in 3 games? 9 points in 12 playoffs games? 28 points in 33 games? It's cute how you're getting so defensive. And "not even CLOSE" to Hudler's skill offensively? So how do you explain the fact (and I've mentioned this over and over to you but have never gotten a reponse) that in 08-9 Filppula and Hudler had the same points per minute at even strength, with the same line mates all year? Was he paying off the opposition? Maybe the defenders just got lost in Filppula's dreamy eyes.

2nd line center. After what we've seen from his this past season, you'd have to be insane to put him in the bottom 6.

Franzen is a beast, but Edler is 6 years younger so who knows what the future holds for Edler. His third season was better than Franzen's so it's not like he's been a bust. Not saying I would have wanted Edler over Franzen, just playing devil's advocate.

Agreed completely. With the way she's shown capable of playing, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get close to 80 if he plays the whole year in the top 6. Especially if he plays on a line with Zetterberg or Datsyuk.

3 years ago was Filppula's second season as a Wing. Filppula HAS stepped it up, each of the last 2 seasons. In 08-09 he was delegated to the third line and got zero power play time. He was 76th in the league in even strength scoring on that third line. That's more than Kane had, with 150 less minutes. In 09-10 he was out for a third of the season and played with fourth liners for a while after he got back from his injury but still managed to have a career year in points per game and had 28 points in 33 games. In short, you're an idiot. As for Bertuzzi, if Holland isn't going to sign anyone else anyway, we may as well sign him again.

Looking at Drake's lineup, I wouldn't mind letting Miller go if we can sign a foward for the 2nd/third line for around 2.5-3m. I like miller a lot but you can't keep everyone you want.

^ I really would only like to see one of Bert/Homer back next year. I'd rather spend 3 million (if we have the space) one someone who will make a little more impact than Bert. He was good the entire year, but as for actually putting points up, outside a few bright spots he wasn't very good.
