I'm not against getting Johnson, but it would be stupid to claim him when they could sign him as a UFA for a less and shorter term. Yzerman's connection with him likely helps as well.

I love this because it was stated that he had TONS of interest and for him to knowingly go to a rebuilding team over a contender speaks volumes. Imagine this type of interaction once we are competitive and contending again.

It's very easy to pop a hole in his stupid conspiracy theory. Look at the 2019 draft.... we selected a German defenseman at 6.... which was considered a reach (at the time). Broberg went 8th and Soderstrom went 11th. Both of these Swedes were ranked top 20 whereas Seider was projected to go in the 20s.

Honestly, Erne deserves more time to really get into the system. I think he'll be solid. Rasmussen will more than likely be in the lineup come January.

It was a bummer that Ottawa was able to get Murray for a 2nd round pick and a prospect, I think. I would have liked to see Yzerman pull the trigger on that as it's a HUGE need. I really don't want to see Markstrom come here and get a long-term contract given I don't feel confident that his performance this past year was a sign of things to come but an anomaly. At this point, I hope Yzerman looks to Holtby, Allen, or Talbot... hopefully one of these guys will be willing to take a 3-year deal, max.
