This would only make sense if we traded Schneider for say Marleau, because Leetch is comparable to Schneider and only 2 years older. We would get the winger we want and he would be golden with Zetterberg, they both would be anyway. This is all purely a pipe-dream as it never would happen. The only reason I mentioned Schneider for Marleau is because San Jose is apparently accepting offers for Marleau and they want a number one defensemen, he's the closest to a number 1 we would give up in my opinion and if Leetch is available, i'd say why not.

The only way we have room for a guy like Leetch is if Schneider is out.

There is no toughness on the market right now, so our best option in order to get goals is Carter, and if you ask me, if we can't get the toughness, I still would not mind the goals, he'll score 30+ here. Some people hate Carter, who knows maybe they're racist, but I think he'd do well here and next year when we lost a bunch of guys we can address toughness more in detail. IF we re-sign Franzen, we'll have a good core of guys, and Kopecky who will get a full stint. We have no brutal beat the crap out of everyone tough guys but we do have a few guys who will be tough nonetheless: Franzen Kopecky Samuelsson Maltby Markov Kronwall Chelios Lilja if he can get his s*** together Those are all capable guys, who will be strong on the puck, and play a strong game, they may not be bruisers, but they won't be pushed around either.

Yeah, i think I said this in another post to you or someone else, but Franzen returning, at this moment, is not clear at all. Yeah we would be stupid to let him go, but we also don't want to be put in a position to have to overpay him either. I wouldn't be surprised if Franzen is playing in Sweden this season.

Yeah I hate to tell you this, but Hudler is not making the team this year, and I wouldn't doubt us losing him or him being dealt. He simply just does not fit with as many smaller skilled forwards we have, Kopecky has a better chance than Hudler, and Bootland may just be the 13th guy, remember Franzen may not be back.

Vancouver has stated that they most likely will not re-sign Carter or attempt to. THey have little money left and are going to sign Linden instead.

Word is, via Code, that the Wings are pursuing Carter the most out of any UFA's left.... Although I'm not sure how up to date that is, I would hope Dumont is being pursued heavily now.

I couldn't agree with you more on Dumont over Carter. I also think that Vancouver would like Carter, but Carter has just asked for too much. And also it would appear that Carter is willing to take less money to go to his two former homes in Michigan or Ontario.

Yeah Gagne easily as more upswing, Naslund is on the downslide, This would be a BIG deal for Vancouver.... Too bad Philly won't trade Gagne.

Yes we could just easily fill the holes with our rooks, but the problem with that is, is that there is no guarantee they'll score or fit into any type of system we'll be playing, which is why it is important we sign a top 6 guy. Whether it is Carter, Nolan, Dumont, or someone else, I don't care, as long as they have proven they can score 20+ goals.

With the rest of the possible acquisitions in mind... I would highly consider signing Carter, playing him on the right line will provide 20-30 goals at least, and Babcock could light a fire under his ass. I'm not saying I necessarily want Carter here, but I wouldn't complain either unless he completely blows. Signing him for 2.5 max is not a bad deal.

The real questions are: Can he put the puck in the net more often for us? Is there a roster spot available for him to take advantage of?

Well from what that reads, they think it would serve him well to have a fresh start here and would help him deeply to play with talent such as Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, etc... I wonder if they're thinking that pairing him with one of those guys (Dats or Zata), he could score 20-25 goals? He does have the potential to do so if he'd just play his heart out. Dang, he also has a one year contract right now, we know what that means, haha. That one year deal is at 1.007 million, so that would be a good deal actually. I wonder if Holland is thinking of maybe adding two guys, hopefully Antropov and Nolan. And Antropov plays right wing as well as center.

Hey just because you reflect your own sad ass aspirations onto Legace, doesn't mean he's heading down the same type of path you are, people change, it is inevitable, in all walks of life, and you have no say in what anyone can or cannot do. I realize it is your job to cut down others because it's easy to do and you don't have to answer for such actions, but you have Legace pegged all wrong, he didn't blow two playoff apperances, it's easy to see you just like to exaggerate your facts to make it look in your favor. This past season was the FIRST time Legace was our starter, you can't say he blew it because he was tossed into a situation a few years back and lost a game or two, that's BS. He blew the first playoffs he started in, but so did the rest of the team with the exception of maybe 4 players... He was down on himself, yes, but it was also the first time he's experienced the pressure and people learn from their mistakes. How many times has Brodeur lost in the playoffs because of lackluster play? Or how about Turco? Or Hasek? Or any other veteran successful goaltenders? But yeah, let's rip Legace's head off and talk about how s***ty he is after one disappointing playoff run by him, that makes perfect sense, grow up guy.

Legace is a class act player and a team player, he has never done a THING to prove otherwise. Because he makes a few comments ABOUT HIMSELF and HIS play does not make him not a team player. He always supports the team and does what he can, it was his first time starting for the season and his first playoff experience as a starter and it proved too much for him, it's not all his fault, the whole team shut down, left him hanging a few too many times, but it was partly his fault, I hope he gets a starting job somewhere because he is a talented goalie, and like many people in many different fathoms of life, he deserves more than just one shot. The fact that he got booted after one disappointing playoff loss is overreacting, and he should have been given one more chance to prove himself. The guy went 37-6 in the regular season, there's no doubt he has the skill to perform and as the above poster mentioned, if he can learn to handle the pressure, watch out.

According to hockeynations.com/forums, The Wings have offered Carter a 2.4 mill contract for 1 or 2 seasons, and Carter is deciding betweeen Toronto and Detroit. Also I remember reading something before the weekend about Carter likely is lowering his demands now knowing he wont' get 3 million.

Yeah they aren't going to sign Hasek, they'll go with Osgood and Liv/MacDonald before they go with Hasek again... By the way, heard through the grape-vine that the Wings are talking to Philly about Esche... Just putting it out there, Ithink I saw that on hockeynations.com/forums

The Wings are reportedly interested in Owen Nolan, Anson Carter, and Kenny Jonsson.... Also the Lang for Souray trade could definately happen, as Souray would be an excellent addition to this team and something that we've been needed as well. If we lose Lang, we'll definately need to add some size and scoring to the front lines... This is where I see Nolan and Carter coming in. Add those two guys and fill in the rest with our youth, I think we'd be pretty strong. If Souray is in though, I'd like to see Lilja or Schneider be traded to make room. Belfour will most likely be our netminder, since a trade is not likely, but I would still like to see us trade say Schneider for Biron, or Schneider for Nabokov, or Schneider for Giguere... one of those three would make me more excited than if we got Belfour. Anyway, that's all I got for now... If it's on XM it's from Eklund, and if it's from Eklund it's false or at least the players are all scrambled up at best. I can see Biron and Afinogenov coming to Detroit, but not for Lang, Hudler, and a 2nd rounder, they'd be taking on Lang's 3.8 million to get rid of a guy who will make about the same amount possibly??? Doesn't make sense... If we're doing this deal it'll be Hudler, Lilja, and a 3rd rounder at most for those two.

Tkachuk is a horrible idea to trade for.... Why? The guy couldn't even stay under weight last season... and yes he is past his prime.
