Kindl needs to go he is just awful!! Smith played another unreal game, but kindl somehow continues to get pp time! That is the one thing I do not understand by babs. Other then that I'm not gonna read much into just 16 shots tonight as you could tell they were tired (especially the top line). Our unofficial top line of Nyquist and Tatar had tons of energy so I would have liked babs to play them more, nonetheless we got a point which was huge. Hopefully wings regroup and are ready for a very hard game Tuesday to win.

I'm sick of quincy always taking stupid penalties... Almost every game sometimes more then once and it always seems to cost us. Hopefully the wings come out strong and seal this game.
-
Thank you Islanders! Now if New Jersey wins today and the Wings can keep our win streak going, we will be in a very good position. Then we play Columbus on Tuesday... if we beat them Tuesday in regulation that will put us 5 points up on them with 10 games to go after that (2 are against Buffalo and one against the Canes). I really like the Red Wings chances going forward. BUt most importantly, we won't have to worry as long as the Red Wings continue to take care of their own business.
-
Lets take care of our own business so that we don't even have to bother scoreboard watching. If the Wings continue to play as a team with a given structure, they should not have a problem getting into the playoffs. This is a really big week and, by the end of the week, things could start to look more sorted out. Hopefully the Wings come out with the same effort as yesterday and have a little better officiating then yesterday. Also, we have been playing really well at home lately.. hopefully that keeps up. Go Wings!

They have to play a game tomorrow night in jersey with no bernier again which will be a tough game. And then they play st. Louis on Tuesday night which is a tough game followed by philly Friday night and Detroit Saturday night (possibly pav return). If things continue to go bad for the leafs they could be very far out of it after next weekend.
-
I think he is saying what I said the other day... Mike Babcock should have already won the jack Adams award at least once by now (probably should have won twice tbh) but he has been ignored every year just because its Detroit.
-
I believe Tuesday or Wednesday will be 3 weeks for Pav... my guess is that there will be a few factors that go into deciding if/when he plays. First off, he and the doctors will decide if he is in fact better or not, which I think he will be given all the rest. 2nd, you know he will want some practices in before playing, so my guess is we probably won't see him play until Saturday night in Toronto, or Sunday against Tampa Bay. The big thing will be how the Wings do until then... IE if they continue to be on their roll, they will not necessarily rush Pav back, however I think we will see him back at some point next weekend if all is deemed to be well early this week.

GDT 3/20 GDT - Penguins 4 at Red Wings 5 (OT)

I agree Babcock should win the Jack Adams if the Wings make the playoffs, but the sad thing is the NHL is so inconsistent with handing out the coaching award. Remember his 1st 4 seasons here when Babs led the Wings to 50 plus wins and eventually the Cup? He didn't win it it once because the saying was that he was "handed a stacked team." Yet, last year, Joel Quinville won it with his Blackhawks because he led them to such a successful season, despite the fact that he too was handed a stacked team to coach. Add to that, a couple years ago Dan Byslma won the Jack Adams for getting the Penguins into the playoffs despite all their injuries, as did Paul Mcclean last year (deserved it). Yet, Babcock is not even being considered at this rate yet, which I find ridiculous. Anyways, I so badly want to get into the playoffs and get Pav and Hank back because I just think we will become a very hard team to beat with having our team healthy and all the experience/ momentum we will have gained. On a side note, the pens must be very worried about playing us in the playoffs... they must be thinking something like "omg if they beat us like this what can they do when they have datsyuk, zetterberg, weiss, helm, abdelkator?" Lets keep the steam rolling and win at least one against the Wild this weekend and hopefully the Leafs lose to the Habs -
Love the kids again tonight. Alfie is having a strong game. For the guy who called the team out the other day franzen has sure done nothing to step up he has looked lazy and kronners continues to look questionable on the pp. Danny D looks great out there once again. Great game by jimmy let's get him a 2nd one and seal this game.
-
I am thinking our top line has a big night tonight... Alfie and Franzen especially. Alfie has put together a couple strong games and him playing with actual decent players should help... not to mention Alfie loves to play against the Leafs. I am expecting a tight game, but I see the Wings coming out on top.
-
How far did that get them into the playoffs? All they have ever had is good defence. But the best defence in the world isn't going to help if your team never has any offensive weapons.

GDT 3/14 GDT : Edmonton Oilers 1 at Red Wings 2 (F/SO)

We won the game. We would not even be in the playoff hunt given all these injuries if it wasn't for the coaching of mike Babcock. There is a reason he is the highest paid coach in the league and you are a fan like me who comes onto forums to talk about what we think... He clearly has far more hockey knowledge then you or I. IMO babs should be coach of the year no doubt if he gets us into the playoffs. I hate how fans complain when we don't win, which is understandable but then they even complain when we win. I know your a passionate fan and I respect that, but have some faith in the guy who is keeping this team in the run. -

Smith had a good game tonight besides his turnover. Kronners also got away tonight with an awful turnover. Smith besides that had a strong game. I thought Alfie had a strong game when he was playing with Nyquist in the 1st I have no idea why babs switched that up because franzen had an awful game. Tatar was our best player and jimmy was solid which was nice to see. Big game Sunday go wings!! -
Last game, Babs moved Aflie on a line with Nyquist and Legwand... Frankly that is the best way to get Alfie going again. Nyquist- Legwand- Alfie Tatar- Sheahan- Franzen Also, one thing that has been bothering me is the way the Wings are playing the PP. They are not setting up Alfie to shoot from the point nearly enough (he has a far better shot then Kronners from the Point). Simply put, I want to see Alfie firing on all cylinders, when he is shooting the puck from anywhere, that is when he is on his game. That top 6 obviously is not the best, but it can hang in there with teams and can for sure win us a game against the Leafs, the Habs, and Edmonton. I have taken a look at Philly's schedule going forward, and they DO NOT have it very easy. The Wings just need to stay the course for a couple more weeks here and we will hopefully get Pavs back (I know wishful thinking) and once that happens, this team can secure its way into the playoffs. Call me crazy, but I think the Wings will make the playoffs. We play Edmonton, Chicago (i already count this as a loss), Toronto (I think we will take it to them and win), Pens (they have injuries of their own so toss up), Minnesota twice, Columbus, Montreal, Toronto again and Tampa Bay to close out the month. Call me crazy, but besides the Hawks game, I think the Wings have a chance to compete in every game and get some wins in there because we play very well against the Habs, Tampa Bay is falling, Edmonton is Edmonton, and you never know with Toronto. By the end of the month, Pav will be back, if not before then, at which point we will have a couple more weeks of games until the playoffs. I trust in our players to get the job done until then. I trust Kronners, Alfie, Franzen, Nyquist, Tatar, and that Howard will find his game. Most importantly, I trust Mike Babcock. Even given all of these injuries, Babs has this team playing with solid structure. Even last night in Columbus, the Wings were playing well up until that last little bit. I say we fight through this and we get into the playoffs and become the worst nightmare for whoever we play against. Lets stop turning on our players that are still playing and not injured, and lets stop questioning the coaches. Lets come together as fans and believe in our team.
-
These Columbus fans in the crowd seem to have not much intelligence they whine about everything! I like the wings compete level tonight they just need to dig away because a win tonight would be huge for them.
-
You forgot to mention that he played pretty darn good defensively in those 14 games... look at what a good job he did against Perry (did not score a single goal) and Toews and Kane against the Hawks). Toews especially was awful against the Wings, largely due to Kronners.
-
So would all the other teams that are battling for a playoffs spot in the east and the difference is that none of them have been nearly as injured as the Red Wings have been this year. Fact is, if the Wings get into the playoffs, which I think they will, and Pav and Hank are back, then that will be the worst nightmare for whoever is in first place. A healthy Red Wings team can easily compete with the Pens or the Bruins and to think otherwise is silly.
-
He is paid more then Howard and rightfully so. That guy gets the job done on what have been some very average Rangers teams over the years.
-
Who did the penguins have that is better then kronwall? Letang and gonchar were not better then kronwall but yet they won the cup. Kronners might not be the best number 1 in the league but he is for sure not far off on the list of number 1 dmen I would like to have.
-
When fully healthy and operational: Zetty- Datsyuk- Bertuzzi (This line was amazing at the start of the year) Franzen- Weiss- Alfie (I truly think this line will get it together and when Weiss comes back from injury, I think this will be the line until Pavs and Hank are back) Nyquist- Legwand- Tatar (I think this would be a fantastic 3rd line... 2 kids who have chemistry together and a solid veteran) Abby- Helm- Sheahan/Miller Say what you want, but that team can totally compete against the Boston Bruins and Penguins. All we have to do is get into the playoffs and our team, when healthy, can make anything possible.
-
If someone has enough time on their hands, I would be really interested to know how many last minute goals Jimmy Howard has allowed throughout his career at the end of each period. I swear he must have some kind of record. Yah the goal was not his fault, but his job as a goalie is to make the timely saves, and he just lets in far too many late goals at the end of periods.

My birthday is this month... thatd be a lovely gift/ upgrade haha
-
He is telling Kenny to package him up in a deal for Erhoff or Kesler haha
-
Mike Gillis is a moron and the way he has handled things, no player will ever want to play for him going forward. Say what you want about Kenny, but at least he shows respect and class towards his players. I feel bad for Lu and all the Canucks fans that lose him after all the crap he has put up with.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
wings_fanatic replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
For now... it has been a crazy day... tomorrow is gonna be interesting. I feel sorry for anyone that has to work or go to school tomorrow. I know every year since grade 9, I treated trade deadline day as a P.A day, will be the same this year as well haha.
