It is after games like this that I am ashamed to be a fellow Wings fan with some of you people! It is amazing how quick you turn on the very team that you claim to love and be a fan of. To the postter above, I bet when Nick comes back and the Wings get going headed into the playoffs you will be posting on here about what a great game the wings played, or the Wings looking great headed into the playoffs as a serious threat. I am going to keep my eye on your posts and if I see something like that I am going to remind you about the lame posts that you posted tonight. For those of us Wings fans who remain LOYAL and have faith in our team, we will be saying we told you so when they start playing Red Wings hockey going down the stretch.

I agree! Hank and Pasha should for sure be together imo. I would like to see them with Bert though at this point because he uses his size really well to create open ice for Pasha and can also chip in with some nice passes and stuff...

OMG shut up with the holland remarks... u honestly sound RETARDED!!! The funny thing is back at the beginning of the year when the Wings were going through a similar funk, everyone was saying the exact same things because it seemed like the end of the world. Now we are in another small funk (This time largely cuz of injuries) and you are all at it again. When the team gets going again and starts racking up W's, the same people saying retarded things about Holland and Babcock and whoever else will be PRAISING them... honestly if your a fan of the team than support it all the time, not just when its playing well!
-
Babcock should have pulled the goalie when it was 4 on 4 for a minute to give us a 5 on 4 advantage... Overall I dont see this team winning games until Nick is back on Saturday. Kronners couldn't keep the puck alive tonight if his life depended on it and didnt hit the net on that beauty setup by pasha at the end there... we really need nick and i cannot wait for him
-
ANother positive is Nick should be back on Saturday and WE MISS HIM more than you would think. We miss his incredibly smart defense, abiltiy to quickly move the puck up, ability to make White look like a 1st pairing Dman, ability to keep pucks in the zone, ability to get shots through to the net, ability to control the powerplay unit, ability to easily kill penalties and, more than anything, his CALMING INFLUENCE. The Wings looked lost in 2008 when he was injured and they look lost this season with him injured... simply put Saturday can not come quick enough.

You guys are over-reacting! Hope cow... I understand the anger with the fact that we are winless in 4, but every team goes through slumps and while in our slump it has largely been because of injuries. In funks, mental errors are made, pucks dont bounce your way, and every that can go wrong does. Puck bounces on Smith leading to goal, Hank hitting the crossbar on the powerplay... I typically find that in funks there is usually 1 game where the team in the slump gets destroyed in every aspect and NOTHING goes their way all game. It is typically after a game like this that the teams turn things around. By the end of the season, the Wings will be rolling and no one will be whining about this, calling Kenny the worst GM in the league, and so on. INstead of debunking everyone (other than Cleary cuz i hate him) how about we SUPPORT their turnaround to success... lets have faith!

I dont care how good FIl and Hank were together in previous games, its time to f***in change things up... this is PATHETIC! Pavel looks like he is the only player trying out there tonight. Time to put Hank and Pavs back together with Homer and go from there. Back to the freakin basics here. Zetterberg- Datsyuk- Homer Nyqist- Filpulla- Bertuzzi Miller- Abs- Hudler Mursak- Ememrton- Cleary - Nothing else is working so might as well try the Eurotwins together... if we can re-ignite that line going into the playoffs that would be HUGE for us imo. Also I think homer should play with them because he is useless on the 4th line and can do his job with pavs and hank

Ken Holland is the best GM in the league and about every other person that knows anything about the NHL would agree. The Red Wings are in a slump... it happens to every team! To top that, we have guys getting injured left and right... it is very hard to win when you are missing key players, and almost every game someone else is getting hurt... it messes lines up and so on. I am very confident with the fully armed and operational Red Wings team come playoff time. The one thing that does bug me a LOT is DAN CLEARY! He does not deserve to wear a Red Wings uniform this season at all. I know his knee is effed up but that is affecting his game so much that he is REALLY BAD almost every shift. If that isn't bad enough, Babs puts Cleary with a returning from injury PASHA?! All that is gonna do is slow Pasha down because Cleary is useless. Pasha deserves a better linemate than CLEARY! IMO Miller has done his job fantastically this year and deserves to play with Pasha a hell of a lot more than Cleary. Cleary needs to be benched. You have to admire the Wings effort to come back tonight and I am fully confident that we will win at least 7 or 8 of our remaining 10 games. Hopefully come Monday we get good news about Nick and then everything will fall into place. Have faith Wings fans we have a team full of guys who knows how to win... we will win.
-
Im sorry but Cleary is the most useless player on the Wings this year. Pasha is returning from a month in San Jose... You would like to think Babs would give Pasha someone to play with that has TALENT! ALl Cleary does is give the puck away, make dumb plays, takes pointless little shots and slow down his line. That is the complete opposite of what we need with Pasha.
-
I HATE that Babs is playing CLEARY with Pasha tonite that is RETARDED!

Last night when Nick was talking to Ken and Larry he said that he is able to walk better, it just hurts when he is on his skates. He described the theropy that the docs are using and said that they will decide on what course to take today or tomorrow as to whether he should stay off his feet for a few days or what not. Obviously it is just a matter of time that Nick has to wait so that he can easily do starts and stops effortlessly. IMO, since we are getting Pasha back likely saturday, let Nick rest until about next Wednesday and then have him resume skating and get some practices in and then come back for the last couple weeks of the season.

I strongly disagree with your assessment. They were the best team in the league pretty much until Pasha and Nick got hurt. Losing Pasha caused an already lazy Franzen to look about 10 times worse. We lost that entire line that provided much of our offence and offence zone time. Because of that Hank and Fil have become our top line and thus the other teams have been able to focus solely on them. Despite that, they have still been outstanding, but they simply have no support without Pasha. Bert did not look very good last night but that was expected because his timing was off- - he even alluded to that before the game. Franzen is the one player, along with Cleary, that has been pissing me off all year... I really wish we would have kept Hossa. Nonethless, this team has been amongst the best in the league for the majority of the season when healthy. When we get pasha back, we will have much more offence and an ability to dominate the puck possession game and he will help our powerplay with gaining the zone, faceoffs, moving the puck and getting pucks to net. When we get Nick back it will provide much more stability to the point on the powerplay and an effortless but amazing defence game. If you honestly think this team is bad then you do not know hockey. This is a successful team and when they get their 2 big boys back they will dominate the rest of the season. I have no doubt in my mind.
-
While we defs miss Nick I think Pasha will have more impact on the team in return than Nick. We will still have a big hole until Nick comes back but imo the dmen on the Wings have been pretty good over this span of these games at moving the puck, blocking shots, and joining the offence. The problem to my eyes has been every line not named Hank and Fil. IMO Pasha will bring back lots of skill to the lineup along with a much better determination to get good scoring chances and dominate with the puck... that is what we are missing. Here is hoping we get Pasha back Saturday and Nick soon after!
-
No Cleary has sucked all year and continues to suck. Furthermore, anyone he plays with this season sees a drop in production as well... Hell he even slowed down Pasha at the beginning of the season!! Then Pasha gets moved away from Cleary and he ignited... Cleary sucks this year and needs to not play.
-
I am confident that Pasha is going to be playing on Saturday so I wouldn't bet against the Wings. He has had 3 + extensive practices and said he feels no pain... and we still have 2 days off in between so I will be very surprised if he does not play against the Sharks. Im calling it right now... the first powerplay we get with Pasha back, we will score. Anyways, lets as Wings fans unite and say a prayer every night before we go to bed for Pasha to play Saturday and for Nick to get better ASAP because I am tired of watching this lousy effort. One last thing I hope Cleary gets a season ending injury soon because he flat out sucks!

What do you think needs to be done to fix the PP/PK

I highly doubt that.... the REd Wings have had one of the best powerplays the past 3 years but in all 3 years have had a s***ty PK... -

The most obvious thing to help the 2nd powerplay unit... TAKE CLEARY OFF OF IT! Also they just need to shoot the puck more and quit trying fancy plays where they lose the puck and have to go get it and restart their approach. -
My frustration is not that the team is "not showing balls" because they are... they dug deep for a win friday and played weell enough to win on Saturday despite being burnt out. I know they are dealing with huge injuries, especially Pasha and Nick, BUT my problem has to do with the fact that everyone, from the coaching staff out, continues to not make the adjustments necessary that are so obvious.
-
ANother thing... I think Cleary needs to sit... he is our worst player out there. He is constantly giving the puck away, making dumb plays and just draining energy. Think about it.. for the majority of this year whoever he has played with has not performed too well offensively. I understand that he is having knee problems and obvs that is impacting his game but I think he needs to sit.
-
This team is PATHETIC without Pasha! Like seriously they look LOST! I understand they are missing a few pieces but they need to have a better effort than this. Also for the Wings to have this bad of a PP whichever coach is running the PP needs to NOT RUN IT asap because this is unacceptable. I cannot wait until Pasha is back.

That whistle defs should have been blown... that was a LONG time. I find often that whenever the Wings get the puck on opposition net that whistle goes very quick but when the opposition shoots on our goalies the whistle doesn't blow as quick.

I expect Pasha to be out tonight and tomorrow, as Babs already confirmed, but it seems as though Pasha is going to play Saturday night in San Jose since he has been practicing with lines for a few days now. Bert will probs be back tomorrow night, and Pasha on Saturday. On the negative side, I think Nick won't play until next Monday at home. I think that because he only skated for a few minutes yesterday, and said that he would like to get a couple good practices in before he plays... honestly why rush it. Better to not play Nick on the road against a hungry San Jose team and give him a couple extra days off and let him return at home. As for tonight, I predict a completely opposite game against LA than what we saw last Friday night. Friday's game was slow, and very defensive for both teams. Tonight I think it will be a lot more fast paced, and LA will play a lot more desperate than they did at the Joe. Also, the Wings skated really well in Nashville on Saturday night and really deserved at least a point if not 2, so I think that they will have their skating legs tonight as well (especially to stay somewhat close to the Blues). A;ll in all, I predict a good game by Hank and Fil again tonight and for some reason I have a strange feeling that we will FINALLY see a good looking Wings powerplay tonight! GO WINGS!
-
Very proud to be a REd Wings fan. The boys were out of gas, but kept going until that last buzzer. You cannot ask for anything more from a team decimated by injuries and played last night. I knew last night the 2 points would be huge because it would be a long shot to win tonight so I am okay with that. Now they get a well deserved day off tomorrow and head out to California. I dont care what anyone says, even the best teams have trouble winning when they have as many players missing due to injuries as we do. Not only that, our top 2 players are amongst that list, making it even harder. Hopefully we get Pavel and Nick back for Tuesday and start catching up to the freakin Blues.
-
Gotta admire the effort of the Wings. They are injured, and tired but are still battling. I cannot believe how much the preds benefit from teams coming into Nashville after playing the night before... that is defs a factor in their good record at home. Yes they are a good team, but it is a lot easier to beat teams that are tired. Having said that, this has been a fun game so far that is being tightly contested. Again, I am really disappointed with the powerplay... I do not know why the hell Babs keeps Cleary on the powerplay... nyquist should for sure be out there. But seriously, Babcock needs to get this powerplay going asap because it is at the point where it is costing us games.
-
Much better effort by the Wings tonight so far... they all seem to be skating well and generating some chances. My only problem with the 1st was the refs... they missed some obvious calls on the Preds but, of course somehow failed to call anything. Some makeup calls are necessary... hopefully in the 2nd.
