  1. Be honest..

And those 3 teams are the only ones recently with multiple Cup wins, do you think it's just a coincidence that they also happen to have very high picks on their roster? Seguin did not play the first 2 rounds, and his 4 pt game was game 2 with Boston down 1-0 at home. If I recall, he was put in the lineup with Bergeron out. But let's say he did not help in any meaningful way, I'm not saying every year a team that has tanked or has a high pick on its roster will win, but it makes it MUCH easier.
  2. Be honest..

That's kind of the point, even in the era of parity only a handful of teams have recently won-and what they share in common is high draft picks. And Seguin had 7 pts in 13 games, not insignificant. Yes, he was acquired via trade, but the point is having top picks in your lineup is really important. No, it does not guarantee anything, but it makes winning the Cup a lot easier.
  3. Be honest..

Name a team that has won the Cup recently without at least a top 2 pick in their lineup.

  5. Remember, even though the team has 2 world class players in Datsyuk and Zetterberg, for some reason we're supposed to just be happy that the team made the playoffs
  6. I can't wait until the Wings pull the goalie and Yzerman comes down and is the extra attacker for the Wings.
  7. The Next Move

Don't blame Holland one bit for losing out, that's out of his hands. However, now we'll see just how good a GM he really is. With Lidstrom gone and Zetterberg/Datsyuk being 30+, the next 5 years will determine if Holland truly is one of the best GM's or just some guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time.
  8. 2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Former Kings GM Dave Taylor deserves a lot of credit. He drafted Kopitar, Quick, and Brown. Only Kopitar was a 1st rd pick and not top 10 if I recall correctly.

How fitting that Staples' slogan is "that was easy".

Knowing Lou's history, he'll probably fire the coach after this game.
  11. Tim Thomas.

Dang, my guesses on the 3 F's that he wanted to reconnect with were fanaticism, fear mongering, and Fox News.
  12. 2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Why is no one focusing on the intriguing storyline of Ponikarovsky having played for the Kings last year?
  13. #8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

Coyotes are toast (french toast if they wind up moving to Quebec City).
  14. #8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

A team like the Coyotes that doesn't possess top-end talent may win a round or two, but they eventually meet a team that can match them in the grit department and has more skill.
  15. Babcock and Holland want to keep Homer.

The only positive of bringing back Holmstrom is that my Red Wing lineup in my Sega Genesis games will remain somewhat relevant.
