After last night, Brunner has played a half-season's worth of games (41), and has 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points. His hot start and subsequent cooling down probably suggest that might not translate to a 50 point season, but the stats definitely give me hope for his future. I definitely see him settling down more next season after getting the "rookie" jitters out of the way in this shortened one. Anyway, here's hoping we re-sign him so we can see what he's got in a full season. I think he's earned that chance this season.

I, for one, am glad Kenny wouldn't accept getting ripped off and paying double what something is worth.

We had Hasek/Osgood in '06-'07 and '07-'08, won the Jennings trophy in the latter. Pretty good tandem in my book. If you're looking for 2 big names, we can go back to '03-'04, when we had Hasek and CuJo. That turned out to be a political nightmare in the locker room, but they're two undeniably great goalies.

Babs/Holland said he's here so we have a backup who has played recently/is playing well, and that he'll probably get a start this weekend if J Mac and Monster aren't available by then. I'd probably guess Saturday against Edmonton, rather than Sunday against LA

This may be slightly off-topic, but with all the talk about putting teams west of us so we are in the east for realignment, it may be relevant. I wouldn't mind, if 2 new teams were added, a system like the NFL or MLB, with conferences that aren't geographically split. I think we would be at an advantage in that system, along with the other central division teams, since our travel situation would probably improve and most other teams would have to travel substantially more.

I was far too lazy to just look up the team's stats, but wouldn't it be nice if Pasha's goals did count for 2?

Teemu Pulkkinen is listed at 5'11", right handed RW, ridiculous shot, coming to North America next season. Tomas Jurco is in Grand Rapids now, 6'2" RW. He's having a slow start, but he could end up being a sniper at the NHL level. Martin Frk is playing over in Czech Republic, listed at 6'. likes to shoot. has a cannon. we actually have a pretty deep prospect pool up front. these are just a few we haven't seen in the winged wheel yet that we might in the next couple of years.

the only reason i don't agree with you is that going to the east would leave chicago as the only o-6 team thats in the west. i actually enjoy playing them a lot and seeing the other original 6 teams only on special occasions. it would be weird the other way around imho.

I think Patty Roy went to the finals (and won a cup?) in his rookie year. I agree with the fact that it's hard to win when you need to score 5 goals, but the blame shouldn't fall solely on the goalie. Howie has been facing a good number of shots per game. I'm not saying he should have let in all the goals he has, but come on. Goaltending is not our only problem. Here's hoping Jimmy picks himself up along with the rest of the wings, and we can pull off some amazing stuff to finish this series.
