I'm honestly amazed Pavel's listed for Hockeyfest. I know I wouldn't blame him for taking a weekend off to collect himself, go home and be with family.

I'm actually mildly surprised 2, 16 and 24 aren't just out of circulation now. 2 for Fischer and McCrimmon, 16 for Vladdy, 24 for Probert and Salei, not to mention the good that Cheli did wearing it. I doubt we'll see anyone in any of those three for a long time.

Not for the next guy, it's not.

You must have some Irish blood. That's how my family (at least my father's side) tends to handle things. We're formal and proper for the services, but afterwards, let the stories and draft flow.

That's enough. I don't care what those players, those men, believed. I don't care if they believed. Fact of the matter is that there's a team's worth of families missing fathers, husbands, sons, brothers. People are missing friends, teammates, lovers. For once, for one day, let's all set aside our beliefs and let people grieve as they see fit.

Long odds can be beaten. Happens every day in hospitals around the world. I know one case that beat stated 10% odds to survive a day, and just as long to survive without debility. I call that a hundred to one. I see him when I look in the mirror.

According to Sovsport, Galimov is still hanging in. Going to be a rough road.

Hello, lans, and welcome. Enjoy your stay. Correct on the fact that made in 1993 or 1994 (I've seen both today) not necessarily being considered "old". The "age" of a plane is a function of number of pressurization cycles, just like how a set of springs on a car age with use. Without knowing the history of that particular Yak-24, you can't tell. For example, the B-52 still flies in the USAF, despite the last one being built in 1962, but given proper maintenance this is not a problem.

That's the best way to describe it. I recognize this feeling, now that I think about it. February 18, 2001, the Daytona 500. I was a huge NASCAR fan in those days (hey, it's in the blood- Dad raced ARCA and ASA), and Dale Earnhardt Sr. was my favorite- I'd watched him race since I learned to walk. Last lap, middle of the last pair of turns, Earnhardt got loose, turned the car and nailed the wall doing about 170. He died instantly, they say, basilar skull fracture. There was utter silence, it was palpable even on the TV feed. I remember Darrell Waltrip whispering under his breath "That's not good...", and then it became clear just how bad it really was. It felt much like this. Athletes aren't supposed to die like this. It's supposed to be retirement, then years later, when even their fans are old and gray, then they set sail across the Jordan. Not like this, no, never like this.

80% burns is grim to say the least. Possible, but just barely. In children, there are cases of 100% burns where the child survived. I'm not giving up hope.

Hmmm... I don't know about the Wings trio. Howe, certainly. The second and third slots are the tough one. Sawchuk? Lindsay? Yzerman? Lidstrom? No matter whom you pick, there are 2 HOF players left out, and in all likelihood, 2 retired numbers.

I'll take 10.

I think, instead of using multiple claps to make the .gif, they just used one. The guy in the background is walking to the right, and backs up a step when the image restarts.

Well, he can't have #48, as that's half Homer and Emmerton has it. Maybe 24 or 72 if he gets to the big club?
-
I'll continue the list. Guy Carbonneau- 3 Selkes, 3 Cups. Larry Aurie- 2 Cups, 1 ASG. Marc Tardif- 2 Cups, 2 WHA MVPs and scoring titles. Aleksandr Mogilny- Cup, Olympic Gold, 7 ASGs, Byng. First Russian NHL player, All-Star, Captain.

How? You simply can't allow someone into the Hall based on what might have been. As it is, Crosby has 1 Cup, 1 Olympic Gold, 2 Finals appearances, a Pearson, Hart, Ross and 4 All-Star appearances. Compared to other notables not in the Hall, that's nothing. Pavel Bure: 6 All-Star games, Calder and 2 Richards. Phil Housley: 7 All-Star games, 1 Finals appearance, 2nd most points by an American. Sergei Makarov: nearly a point per game for his career, despite starting in NHL late. 8 World Championships, Calder, Canada Cup. Adam Oates: 4 All-Star games, better than a point per game for his career. Fred Shero: 2 Cups as a coach, 4 trips to the Finals, Adams, Patrick. Eric Lindros: Hart, Pearson, 7 All-Star games, 1 Finals appearance. How exactly does he stand out as a lock when the likes of Housley, Oates and Bure are out?

Love it. Let's see... OH, MI, IN, IL, PA, VA, KY, WV, NY, ON. Done a bit here and there. TPBM has an appointment tomorrow.

Just waiting for Toledo to get back in the swing of things. Quick tuneup against New Hampshire, then to the Shoe.
-
Winchester could be an interesting move, and his contracts tend cheap... hmmm.
-
Pass. I've next to no relatives in my family I'm close to, and the ones I used to be close to I'm not really on speaking terms with. TPBM needs a shave.
-
Cookies. Golf is a good walk wasted. Nuggets or chicken fingers?
-
Skip it. Fluffy or noodly dumplings in your chicken and dumplings?
-
Demolition Derby tomorrow. Fun!

Cowboy boots, no. Workboots as formal wear? Yes. TPBM sees nothing wrong with that.
