  1. I like Brunner, and honestly I am surprised that he hasn't come to the realization that we made him a fair offer and signed on. I don't see a team making him a better offer than we have at this point. He always seemed like he loved being in Detroit. Apparently he still believes that someone is going to come along and wow him with an offer, but I just don't see it happening. If this all hinges on his top 6 status, then I don't want the guy anyway.. I want a guy that is not scared to earn his spot. All that said, if he is not resigned, I have no concerns at all that Tatar is a perfectly fine replacement. I actually really like what I saw from him in spots last year and was surprised when they sent him back down. I think that a 3rd line of Tatar/Helm/Nyquist would be one of the most exciting lines to watch. The combination and speed and skill on that line would be a potential nightmare.. Having a 3rd line that can create mismatches is the difference between championship teams and the rest. I am concerned about how they will handle the Sammy and Bert situation. I don't mind having Bert around as the guy that can help cover injuries, or be the muscle when we need it (Same with TooToo, who I think will have a role at times) , but Sammy is just a waste of space on the roster and money. I don't see him as a fit with any line at all. I will be very interested to see how that works out.
  2. wasn't this guy drafted in 2007? I mean how long does one need to not single handled cost his team the most important games of the season?
  3. I have been a lurker for a long time, but after watching smith this playoff season, and then tonight, to see him single handedly give up two goals.. to start the third and watch him with his head down on the bench.. if he is in the lineup on Wednesday, the coaches are asking to lose. I feel like the guy has been part of well over 50% of the goals scored on the wings in the last two series.. he is just too much of a liability at this point.. get him the hell out of there.
  4. has anyone seen an article addressing hossa leaving that would help prove my friend wrong? the ones i keep finding are slanted towards pitt like hossa did something wrong.. i just dont see it.
  5. So I got into an arguement with a friend last night because he said that Hossa was a ***** in his book for leaving Pittsburg to go to the Wings just to win a cup. I proceeded to point out that Hossa was only just traded to Pitt and really had no affiliation to them other than being sent there without a choice. But what I was wondering is could Pitt even have resigned the guy if they wanted to?? I mean they have some huge salaries in Crosby and Malkin. I also remember last year, them saying that Hossa was essentially a rental player because there was no way that Pitt could keep all three. Just wondering if I am even right in that respect. Pitt didnt make any big moves at the trade deadline either this year did they? was that a money issue as well? I looked for an article on it to send my friend, but couldn't find anything. He is a Wings hater, so I love to prove him wrong. Funny thing is, he thought it was ok for Borque to sell out on Boston to get a cup, but not for Hossa who played for Pitt for such a short time.. lol.
  6. what exactly is the injury that dats has that is so bad that he can't play.. yzerman played on one knee.. and won a cup.
  7. So I hope I am wrong, but doesn't the game misconduct by Kron carry and automatic 1 game suspension? Is he playing today or no?
