NEW YORK (NY) -- The NHL's Department of Player Safety today announced that Patrick Kaleta has been suspended for 25 games as a result of Matt Cooke's illegal knee-on-knee hit on Colorado defenseman Tyson Barrie.

John Scott will get 25 games for this. -
"Due to the injury to Steven Stamkos, Patrick Kaleta has been suspended 10 games."

Yep. And Malkin does the exact same thing and doesn't even get a review. That's why Shanahan's a joke.

That was Leopold's first hit of the season.

Mike Grier once kicked a short Czech man in the chin. Today, we call his son Zdeno.

Shanny keeps talking about awareness and the responsibility of the hitter, yet Lucic _deliberately_ makes a reckless play leading to the injury of a goaltender and gets nothing. Is it going to take Boston actually killing someone on the ice before they're penalized? It's a damned joke.

It took me 3 replays to catch it, but his strap did come disconnected.

The Sabres/Flyers game was no better.

I was at the grocery store yesterday. I took someone's head and guided it right into the driver's side mirror. Glass shards in their face... they threatened to call an ambulance chaser but I claimed interference... had to wait to get in the store for 5 minutes. The Kart Kid saw no problem with it. Neither did the Cops.

That was the bourbon talking.

One of the last few remaining Jets.

He's in playoff form early this season!

Julien should line Thornton up against Crosby from the very first shift he takes and tell him to run him until he lands on a stretcher the same way Savard did. I'd bet good money Campbell would do something then.

At least this one was a legitimate attempt to separate the player from the puck, unlike a lot of the dirty hits we've been seeing recently. As much as I dislike the Flyers and Carter, I really don't think it was a head shot or an attempt to injure. A strong move to the the net with speed and your head down watching your fancy stick moves can put you in dangerous territory. You hate to see that happen, but you've got to be alert out there. That being said, I do think it adds evidence to the case that modern "pads" are no longer pads - they're hard-shelled body armor, and dangerous because they're being used as weapons instead of being used to protect the player.
