I really love Pavel Datsyuk. I shudder to think what this team would be like without him.

They wouldn't have groomed him to be the next captain if they didn't think he had games like this in him. This is what separates the wheat from the chaff, as it were.

This is totally an aside, but I really really really really dislike puckbunnies. Holy crap, do they irritate the living daylights out of me. There's few things more offensive to a female sports fan than other females who are only into the sport to drool over rich men. You can spot them by their pink hats, pink jerseys, and total lack of knowledge about what's going on on the diamond/ice/field/court. They make the rest of us look bad.

Why is there a "but" at the end of the thread title? Zetterberg's great. Period. Datsyuk is great. Period. Be grateful they play for us, not someone else.

I should add, it would be nice if they shot more pucks at the opposing net; they have a better chance of going in that way.

It would be great if our defense in front of the night was oh, a smidge bit better than it is now.

Why do we always have players that are more prone to injury than other teams? It seems like every season, we lose half our roster to one thing after another.

If he had better defense in front of him, I'd say 1/4 to 1/3 of the goals he's given up, he wouldn't have. Yes, it comes down to the goalie doing his job, but if you have sieves in front of your net, it doesn't matter if you have Terry Sawchuk between the pipes.

Today is my parents' 41st wedding anniversary. As a treat, I'd like it if the player whose number is closest to 41 gets a hat trick. That would be our new captain, Mr. Zetterberg. MAKE IT HAPPEN, HANK.

I've enjoyed watching a more awake Red Wings team on the ice tonight.

At least the Red Wings showed up tonight. Maybe thought tonight was the first game of the season, and last game was just a warm-up or something.

I think this thread is just a tad melodramatic. I don't think anyone is jumping off the bridge and going off to root for Pittsburgh and HWSNBN. I think what people are doing is looking at the team as presently constructed, noting that it has some serious holes in comparison to last season's team, and the season before that, and realizing....we're in trouble. Not that we're going to go 0-48, but that we're going to have more of these games than not. Maybe the thread starter needs to relax, instead of telling the rest of us to.

Maybe the Wings think the lockout is still going on, and this game is just busy work so their wives won't nag them to fix stuff.

I don't think anyone's quite saying that, so dial down the melodrama. They do however, suck major ass tonight. Doesn't mean they'll suck ass all season, just that they're sucking ass *tonight*.

To say we suck tonight would be insulting to things that suck, like Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Dyson vacuum cleaners.
