There have been a few fights so far. The one in the end of the second was pretty good.
The camera view does suck. I keep thinking zoom out so I can see more of the ice! The clock and score takes up a lot of room too, more than it normally should which makes it look even worse.

I'm happy he is gone... we don't need a pure goon with average fighting skill and hands made of cement! Sure he might have been a great locker room guy but our room is filled with them....I'm glad he found a home, I'm glad its not in Detroit! Cya!
You might be right.... with that type of enforcer on the bench no one will ever think about stepping out of line in Pheonix.... add his 3 goals and 4 assists and I think that puts them over the top!I always thought of him as a good enforcer, especially for being 6ft even and going up against larger guys. Off the top of my head I can't recall any fights that he lost while he played for us. Out of curiousity does anyone know how many of the current NHL enforcers have knocked someone out in one punch?
I wish him the best of luck and will miss him. I was always pumped when he was in the lineup.

It will. I love to watch games when they are on FSN and called by Mickey and Ken. If Mickey finally did call it quits who better to bring in then McCarty though? I think it would be cool if they worked him in somehow. He's a fan favorite and will be missed by many.

You caught me, I wasn't a fan until Holland started bringing in a bunch of soft Euros and stopped Dressing tough guys. I was so mad when they brought McCarty back, and I will continue to be mad until there are 12 five foot Euro forwards on the ice for all twenty minutes. And they should fire Babcock too. He is too tough for Detroit. Bring in a pillow with a face to coach the team. And hang bedsheets with pink bunnies on them along each side of him to coach the defense, offense, and special teams.I got a good laugh out of that after reading some of the pro-enforcer stuff on these boards.
I'll miss Downey, as well as McCarty. I was excited every time they played with the wings. I really hope Downey finds a roster spot somewhere. Hopefully Dmac can find some type of job in Detroit. He could make a good mentor for "what not to do". He'll always be one of my favorites. When we do get another enforcer someday, I hope they play like Shanny. Not afraid to drop the gloves and puts some pucks in the net.

Since everyone here is so fond of playing Fantasy Lines, I figured I'd chip in.The only forwards I don't see being separated much this season are Datsyuk/Zetterberg and Franzen/Filppula
Other than that, I think we can expect a lot of shuffling, especially at first as Babcock tries to get a feel for how the lines gel together.
What I'd like to see most of the time is:
Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Holmstrom
Franzen/Filppula/Cleary
Bertuzzi/Helm/Leino
Williams/Draper/Eaves
Maltby
I can also see Bertuzzi or Cleary getting significant top-line minutes especially if Holmstrom spends any time dealing with injuries, most likely Cleary unless Bertuzzi shows some major hop in his step.
I hope we can call up a few of the GR kids for more than just spot duty, I'd like to see what the future will look like without having to follow the Griffins all season too.
I'm happy with this signing as long as he can refrain from stupid penalties all the time. People sure do get their panties in a wad pretty quick over a 1.5mil guy with some potential. It's not like he's 40. I like these line combo's.
Now if we could just get back to hockey season!

I don't get some Detroit fans. McCarty has a great history with the team and he'll always be a fan favorite. What reason is there to bash him? Just in case you don't recall he did put a few key goals in net and stuck up for his teammates. Look him up on youtube and tell us he was a useless, horrible waste...

I thought it was a little strange bringing the cup back to the state who's fans are of the team you beat... at home.... in game 7..... (insert conspiracy theory here). Grats to him with his success with the Penguins but I don't think I'd go to his celebration even if someone payed me.

Not obnoxious, but "giving Americans a bad name", of blind and dull-headed servitude and popular meme's like support ribbons as a political statement. Highly embarrassing.We should also call the parents of Bowe Bergdahl and let them know their towns ribbon tying is embarrassing and it should be stopped. After all he is just some dull-headed servant of the U.S. who has a slim chance of ever making it home based off how prisoners were treated by the Taliban in the past.
I'll have to give my mom a call and tell her she shouldn't have put that ribbon magnet on her car because it gives the country a bad name. Thinking back, man that really was stupid of her to show support for her two sons deployed to Iraq...

Obnoxiousness gives Americans a bad name? What?Giving Americans a good name entails what? Waving the flag around and being a quiet and polite/boring nutjob? Last I recall, his character was, for years, part of the excitement during Hawks/All Star/International games. I kinda think Presidents/politicians of late give Americans a bad name, as well as many flag-waving, support-our-troops-support-ribbon Americans.
Roenick was a decent player with character. Like, actual character not akin to real bigmouths like Sean Avery, who strangely gets a following for his antics.
I can understand how someone may think politicians give Americans a bad name. I don't understand how supporting military service members would make American's look bad or be considered obnoxious. If that's the case guess I make the U.S. look bad by showing my support, sorry fellow Americans!

Shanahan was a defensive liability and Babcock didn't take too kindly to his refusal to sacrifice offense for the sake of defense approach.I honestly can't recall how well he was on D. He is +151 for his career. I just remember a guy that could score, fight and was a lot of fun to watch. Is there actually proof of him refusing Babcock's system or did they just happen to rub each other the wrong way? I thought Bowman got everyone to play a 2 way game long before Babs showed up. I can't see how we'd go wrong if he isn't expensive. Especially when comparing him to who is out there yet. I got this off of sportsnet.ca.
Assets Lethal scorer from the slot area. Loves to instigate trouble for the opposition. Plays a sound two-way game and is very durable.
Flaws Is not as intimidating as he was in the early 90's, at least in terms of his physical presence. Has become a streaky scorer over time.
Career potential All-time great power forward.
On top of that he's got size, and he shoots right. Wasn't that another thing we were missing? Could he be another option to play the point on the PP? I know we want to get younger but I'm thinking just about replacing some points next season inexpensively. I know a lot of it is just me missing the old days. If I had my way Fedorov would have came back, reclaimed his glory and retired in Detroit prior to going to the KHL.

I don't get what everyone has against Shanny. Sure he's 40 but look at his numbers the past few seasons and remember he wasn't picked up until real late last season or they would probably be better. I thought we had to make up for some points? Shanahan can provide points, he's got decent size and he's not afraid to stick up for teammates. Of course I miss him from what back when but I really can't see any downside to him signing with Detroit if he comes cheap. Has he been injured recently that I'm unaware of? It seems like he could still put up 40pts a season. I guess maybe if he's not on the first or second line he won't produce?

If we get Hossa for 4-5mil he better get a lifetime supply of Hot-N-Ready. He's got such a great shot I don't see how we can pass that up if he takes a big discount.

I have a couple multi pack cases I been sippin on during the playoffs, one of Sam Adams and one of Leininkugel. I spend a little more on my beer habit during the playoffs. During the regular season I usually stick to Labatts.

I think it sucks that the Wings have been penalized first for all but one game this series. Sure they were lazy in game 4 and other times but the team that gets the PP first is most likely going to have momentum. Trying to even up penalties halfway through the third is a little late to get anything going. Yeah they should have played better in the second but regardless there could have been penalties that were not called.
It also has to be pretty hard to play due to frustration when the other team isn't getting called for squat when you've been penalized twice for weak calls as happened in the last game. I don't think there is a conspiracy against the Wings but I do think refs try to keep it close or even a series, unless there are blatant calls with people being idiots like in game 5. Could it cost a team a series? I think so, if it's down to one game any goal could get waived or other fluky bs happen.

I've only been to one K-wings game but I remember it being fun. My brother pointed out how Turco was such a great goaltender. Not long after he was signed by Dallas.

Yeah I found it somewhat funny that on each goal we scored it was noted how we got away with something dirty... It really sounded according to them the Wings are big cheaters, and noone else in the league ever tries to get away with anything, especially during the playoffs. I miss Mickey Redmond 8).

There is an elevator that goes up and a long hallway that runs around The Joe to the different suites. Once out on the balcony there are steps for each row of seats, usually two rows. There may be an ok view from behind the seats out the window from sitting but not sure. Not all suites have a window and door like the one I was in. He may be able to pull partially into the door if it's not open. I would probably just call and ask ahead to be sure.
